Hey just wanted to update everyone I tore into my truck tonight to examine the depth of my manifold leak. Well come to find out I had 2 broken bolts on the driver side, they were the very top bolts front and rear both were studs for the heat sheild. Unfortuneitly for me they were broke off under flush by a full thread. Bolt one I got a good center drill and a extractor on it and got it out in a hurry second one in the back I was not so lucky had a hard time getting a drill on it and drilled off center got a few aluminum shavings and stopped with no acutal damage. After a would 2-3 hours I finally gave up and went and got the welder. I welded a washer to the bolt and a nut to the washer and backed it out without any damge. Unfortuneitly my manifold was badly warped so I have one on order and I should get to put it all back together tomorrow and hopefully the nasty tick will be gone.

Nice. Welding a nut on is just how I do it too. Works great.

Thanks for the update. Nice job on the welding.

So should we use ARP bolts instead of the stock ones?

Thanks it's what I do for a living :favorites13: and I couldn't find arp bolts/ part number for stock replacemnts they are probably out there, but from what I understand is the new bolts are stronger. So I have my fingers crossed that I have no issues with these. When I bought the truck the previous owner said he had to have a cylinder head replaced due to broke manifold bolts(i find it hard to believe they had to replace the full cylinder head unless they messed it up) but the passenger side does look like a lot newer manifold than On the driver side so hopefully I don't have to do this again.

Same here, mine has been leaking for a while now. I have had the bbk headers since 2012 but used the factory gaskets, I'm going to install the bbk gasket that came with them.
