Manual shift info

Fellow Ram fans, after reading a few threads I've decided to start putting my Ram into 6th gear with "manual mode" while driving around town. Sometimes I forget tho and it's not till I'm already up to speed that I remember to put it in 6th. So what I do is wait till I come to a stop sign, make a complete stop and shift it to 6. My question is can I start shifting while in motion. Say I'm already in 3rd gear can I push the - button and start at 3 or will it shift all the way down to 1st? Thanks for the help.

You can shift at any time. You cannot cause it to downshift in a way that would be damaging.
