So I put the 2/4 spindle kit in and I have two thoughts

Damn this mother sits high!

Does it ride worse now?

Love to hear from other spindle owners on how they feel about the ride quality...

As for the "too high". Part I'm going to try a set of "stock height" springs in the front (not the "raised height" ones it came with) and see how it sits, then trim the rears to match.

Also curious if anyone has chopped out some of the tire height by going to a 31" or 32" overall diameter instead of the factory 33" tall ones. I can find pictures of lowered trucks but not with tire size details.

Thanks in advance!

Andy

I dont have a drop or a lift but i can tell you one thing, you are on the right track of getting rid of (burning off) your stock crappy year tires to put on man tires. Either you beef up or you slim down which it sounds like you want to and for example i run 305/40/22 and when i measured at the beginning of the year they were 31.5"
Amazing improvment in sport ride quality. Ill say right away that if you want to retain your factory comfort stop right here. You feel every crack and imperfection in the road. Aggressive driving is so much more fun, push it through the curves with confidence because you feel planted like a sports car. No more cheap squealing sounds when just cornering moderatly hard or taking off fast.

Thanks hemihustlin!

I'm not too concerned with a sporty ride, my concern is I seem to feel a shimmy over bumps like the shocks can't control the added unsprung weight of the MUCH heavier cast iron spindles vs the OEM aluminum ones.

Definitely putting better tires on it when my rims arrive, deciding between 305/50 or 305/45 20's for the back and 275/55 or 275/50 20's for the front - going for an old schoolish "bigs n'littles" tire look on a similarly vintage looking set of American Racing grey "salt flat specials"

FWIW Spindles only lower about 1-1/2". I trimmed my 2" drop coils to get down 4".

So you put the spindles, drop springs AND you trimmed them? Wow! You have to modify the bump stop in the front? In my heart of hearts I want to put a ridetech kit in it, but I blew all my dough on an Edelbrock supercharger!

How's it ride? I swear mine seems to shimmy over bumps now ...

You have any dead on side photos or wheel-well height measurements?

2"/4" Belltech cut down to 3"/5.75" (smacking frame) with 275/55/20 yokohama parada tires. QA1 single adjustable shocks. Hellwig sway bars front and rear. Truck handles like a sports car.

Cell pic like usual, but it'll do.

Mind you, I have 30psi still in the helper bags from towing the trailer.

I found that trimming half a coil on 2" drop springs(3" drop), even when removing factory bumpstops and putting in short ones the truck is still sitting on bumpstops.

I just ordered drop spindles today. Will probably trim the factory coils a little bit when I put the spindles in. But the coil drop rides like **** IMO. Atleast on the crappy roads in my area. I'm tired of the jarring bumps.
