Hey all! Hope all is well. New to the RAM forum here. Hope someone could help me. Just installed a MDS Delete Kit & inTune i3 w/ PCM Swap for my 2016 5.7L from AMS racing. Just waiting for the PCM to come back. My Question, Can I start the vehicle with the original PCM so I can flush the radiator and Oil until I receive my Nee PCM, Thank you! V/R Lester

Wish I could definitely say yes or no (never heard that one before), but, since MDS doesn't kick in till it's moving somewhere over 35 mph, it should be OK, since you aren't going to be driving it.. You can also turn on tow / haul mode, which locks out MDS, I believe. Also, the gear select buttons on the steering wheel lock out MDS if truck is in drive..

MDS isn't on at idle. I wouldn't drive a lot on the stock PCM but you can definitely run it in the driveway for a few minutes. Heck you can use the + & - buttons on the wheel (or shifter if you have the older 6-speed) manually select top gear and MDS won't turn on. I've been doing that every time I drive our truck for nearly 5 years. Not sure why people pay $$$ to "delete" a feature which is disabled at the touch of a button.

If you do run it on the old PCU in the driveway, I would expect you to to see an MSD CEL because the solenoids aren't there any more (or did you leave them connected, but not mounted?)

Took out the solenoids. They are not connected anymore. I used plugs that are designed to plug the hole where the old MDS solenoids used to live. It’s used when swapping MDS engines into older non-MDS cars or retro fitting non-MDS cams.

6 speed Challengers also use the plugs,as they're non-mds engines

Yeah, I figured that. I have heard of a couple of guys that left the solenoids connected to the harness, but not into the oil gallery (plugs installed) for some odd reason. Perhaps it was to fool the CEL.
