What's your hang up with mds,why not just stick a OEM cam back in it with the proper new lifters and call it good.
The trucks basically 12 years old, another OEM cam will probably put the truck in the scrap heap.
You don't have to worry about tuning it,or passing whatever emissions you have to pass to be able to drive it in SoCal.
Be realistic .
If I had to do the cam / lifter job, I believe I would do the MDS delete, also. That would be eliminating possibility of one or all 4 oil solenoids failing and/or possibility of one or all 8 MDS lifters failing. It would also provide full pressure oiling to all 16 of the lifter bores at all times.

Not afraid of MDS and actually use it when running over 50/55 MPH for the added oiling in the MDS lifter bores at the lower RPMs. Fuel savings is abysmal / non-existant when in MDS mode. Around town use the buttons to lock it out, since the RPMs are up and lots of splash going on and at lower speeds the truck exhaust doesn't sound like a f@rt in a rain barrel when switching in and out.

I'm a firm believer in deleting it to,but the way he wants to do it with resistors and non-mds lifters on a mds cam,is just gonna turn into a clusterfluck and cause him nothing but issues.
In his case being in SoCal i think he'd be better off just using stock OEM parts

Yeah, if going to delete, do it the right way for the sake of reliability.

Agreed on the S Cal thing. Those guys are on another planet when it comes to mods and smog inspections. (Glad we don't have anything here for that).
Same here,we have no emissions testing, basically if it's got tires and a steering wheel you can register and insure it,okay maybe not that bad,but close :Big Laugh: :Big Laugh::Big Laugh:

Where I live it is that bad. There are no inspections or emission testing requirements. In fact, it technically only needs a title and I can register it. Steering wheel and tires not required lol. :anitoof:

You better hope the election goes our way because all the other candidates are eco-n_zis.
