On my 2018 6.4, 6 speed. We set the trans at 5 for around town to disable MDS. On the Hwy you can set it at 6 or push tow haul button. On our 2018 3.6 8 speed. We set the gear at 6 around town. Tow haul button on the Hwy.
I agree, MDS is political socialist BS mandated by bureaucrats who are not elected but love exercising control. Must give the Ram engineers a shout out for giving us a override. Fitz

Didn't realize simply turning the gear selector on turned MDS off. Was thinking I had to go down at least to 7 for MDS to be off.
That's what I thought as well.
I thought I had to be moving over 45MPH or over 8th gear, then hit - gear twice and then go back up to 8th gear.
I guess not??? lol

Nah as soon as you shift into drive, just hit that gear + button until you get to the number 8 in your gauge cluster and you're good to go! That is what I have been settling with for the past month instead of buying a tuner for now lol. With my aftermarket exhaust I hated listening to that drone that would occur when MDS kicked in, as well as having to wait for MDS to shut off whenever I would give my truck some go.

My truck is a 6.4 6 speed. It's become second nature now. That as soon as I pull it into drive. I hit the minus button then count up 5 times. Basically do it without even thinkin bout it.
Third tank of gas on this truck. Figured out mds on or off drive it hard or soft. Dang thing ain't gonna move average milage from between 12-13. Actually ain't seen 13 yet.

Yeah mine is only the 5.7, but I have not seen a massive change in mpg just from keeping MDS off. I am still averaging 15 mpg in the city, so I can't complain compared to yours!
