Has anyone else when you put the truck in Manual mode and prevent the mds from kicking on you actually get better fuel economy? I have test this with my last 2 tanks of gas. I fill up same place every time.

Yup. I also find the more i drive it like a grandpa, the worse my mileage is too, not to say i drive the **** out of it, but just drive it like i want to. I leave it in 4th around town and then once on the freeway put it in MDS.

MDS is primarily good for long stretches of open road or highway.

That's my conclusions anyway and my way of justifying how much more fun it feels to drive that way.

I dont really see how disableing MDS would give you better fuel economy.

I drive a lot (mixed city and highway) and I find that leaving it in drive with mds on is the best for mileage. That being said, driving 25 mph in town with mds on is fn annoying! I find myself downshifting just so I can give it a little gas to move through town. I have to kick it pretty good to get out of mds mode at low speed.

MDS extremely annoys me so I have been shifting into 6th right away and drive like that. I think I remember Chaney mentioning it so I gave it a shot, been doing it ever since. I'd rather run all 8 cylinders all the time then have my engine switching from 4 to 8 constantly especially around town. Just my opinion.

I read a post about this before......putting it in manual mode. I did notice that I got a little better MPG and I didn't have to deal with the annoying MDS drag at slow speeds.
