I'm going through the water leake issues with my truck. I'm on my 4th visit to the dealer. So far they have fixed the following:

1. Rear window seal that was leaking - Removed and replaced
2. Cab corner seams were leaking - Resealed
3. Cab vents leaking - Replacing with 2nd generation updated vents

I'm also fighting with them to replace the carpet and rear wall insulation that has mildewed to the point where it is unbearable in the summer heat inside the cab.

Has anyone with leak issues experienced rusting inside the cab under the carpet and insulation?

I have not been able to inspect under the carpet, because I've been leaving all that to them with it being under warranty.

I've been told that there are 3 renditions (Original, and two updates). Let me look and see.

I was told that they fixed mine with the newest vent, but my service ticket paperwork noted one of the middle version vents.

I would suspect that anyone that took a sprayer or hose and shot water down at the vents between the bed and cab will get water coming in. Most just don't know it is happening. Anytime it rains or I wash the truck...I will have water coming in through the vents on both sides. I only started noticing it when my truck was smelling like must and mildew and I started investigating. I'm on my second set of vents.

This is supposedly the current part# 55055998AH

These are the ones that it has replaced:

55055998AB, 55055998AC, 55055998AD, 55055998AE, 55055998AF, 55055998AG, 68157351AA

Thanks!

Its interesting, because some of the OEM online parts sites show this as my part number: 68323649AB and they are much cheaper than the part you refer to. Yet we both have 2017s with the Hemi.....mine is a quad cab and yours is crew but Im guessing that doesnt matter.

I don't see how it would matter either, but who knows. When I go on moparonlineparts.com, it also shows for my truck that 68323649AB is the one for my truck.

All I know is that my 2004 Ram was 14 years old and never leaked in that vent. I bought it brand new.

In 2019 they should be able to make a truck that doesn't leak.

Mine is not leaking (that I know of) but I need to pull out my back seat so I would consider replacing them with a better part while it's out.

I just joined the forum. We've had some rain the last couple days and last night I found the rear driver's side carpet wet. It was damp in the cubby under the rear seat, and near where the rear blowers are under the driver seat.

Has your leak situation been resolved?

Yes, so far I have no more leaks. They installed the updated vents, but mine still leaked anyway.

After working with @RamCares & my local dealership they finally resolved the issue, but it wasn't a factory OEM fix.

Ram/Chrysler (whomever) decided that the final fix was to silicone rubber flaps over the vents. They created a shroud, per say, to cover the vents. That way the vents could still function, but would be able to shed water with the "fix". I wasn't happy, but they said that it would still be covered under the factory extended warranty that I have on the truck. After numerous e-mails and talks with @RamCares I realized that they were not going to do anything else to fix the problem since it wasn't leaking anymore.

Overall I was not satisfied, but the leaking had stopped and I will monitor it closely on a regular basis.

Was your headliner stained on the top corners by the rear window? That's what I'm going through with mine right now suspect rear window leaking or cab corner seals where ever they are? Have my appointment Tues will see what the dealer has to say.
It is very disappointing having something so new leak

My 13 showed very minor stains on roof liner(13 QC), I bought a $20 led 3rd brake light, the light came with thick gasket and never seen any new stains since. My rear vents, as far as I know have not leaked, if they do, my amp is right near one, would suck if it blew my amp. I might move amp up higher. I do have a leak in front right, comes out of the pull handle lower screw cover, just a few drips when hard rain if truck is sitting in certain angle, thinking it's window seal, but going to take it to window place and see what can be done. I don't want to put silicone all around window if I don't have to, but don't want leak and windshield doesn't have a single chip, resealing I think is more expensive than replacing the original windshield.

No, all of my leaks were limited to just under the rear seats. So far I've had no leaks from the Brake Light.

the 3rd brake light was sealed with silicone but the seal was seeping h20 in through the seal itself (porous foam seal) - replaced with a rubber seal = leak fixed. Who would think a seal would seep through

Behind the 3rd brake light there are holes, so water runs down back wall to floor. Aftermarket light with thick seal solved my issue. Now my windshield seal has a tiny random leak and comes out the passenger side lower screw cover on grab handle to get in truck.
