So, I have heard a few times of 'modifying the carrier' to work with 4.56s.
Yet even with the 'ol google, I can't seem to find **** about it.

So... What's involved? Do I need to have the carrier machined down at a machine shop, can I tackle it with an angle grinder? I'd think it'd need to be balanced...?

Has to be precision machined. New recessed bolt holes.

If you want it done send me your carrier or I can have a new carrier machined and sent to you.

Like said, the bolt pattern on the aftermarket gears does not line up with the pattern on the new carrier. Fasthemiram12 has a great shop that has done many of these, so that is the route I would go if you want to step into some 4.56's.

I would have to buy a new carrier (want a posi, and I think the carrier is diff for 4.X to 3.55s anywho isn't it?).

You have a rough (over-inflated) ball park figure on this?

Watching this thread, we need someone (fasthemiram12 perhaps?) to come up with a kit for us 2012+ guys. That would lessen the install blow significantly.

Is the carrier part of the diff assembly? if i replace the diff with a Detroit or Auburn, does the carrier issue go away with aftermarket gears?

The axle shafts are different lengths on the new ZF axle, so the aftermarket diffs like the Auburn and Detroit Trutrac will not work.

I don't think you need to replace the transfer case...just the front diff assembly and front driveshaft.

What??? Arrrrgh. Mine didnt come with LSD, so the only one I can add is OEM? probably costs a fortune... and speaking of, the dodge engineers must have been trippin balls when they revised the rear end... wonder what drove them to do this

So there's no way to add LSD to a 2011 4x4 with 3.55 gears?

Only a stock one and its roughly 450.00 for the rear.

A 2011 isn't so bad cause you can still add 456's to the front And install a stock LSD machined for 456's in the rear

I updated the price....

Its 450.00 for the carrier and 250.00 to machine plus the ride.

Crazy question maybe but what if I wanted to swap my 355's for a set of factory 392's? Same costly procedure?
