I purchased some 5 inch tips from Moes performance and looking at my stock ones the clamps are welded on in one spot and the new tips didn't come with clamps so my question is do I need to grind the weld of the factory exhaust tip clamp and use it on the new one or get a new clamp which looks like a dealer item only? Thanks

The clamps are about $25-$30 each from Dodge last time we checked, so its much cheaper to just grind that small tack weld off and reuse them.

Yup, grind or a pair of pliers helps straighten them out, bolts right back on!

I used pliers to grab the clamp and bend it back over the weld, then just bent back and forth until it snapped at the weld. Took me about 30 seconds per tip. Never even had to plug in my grinder.

I also had a shop add a small weld on the clamp once I got mine on -- too easy for someone to unbolt and jack them. They're nice tips and definitely eye candy to someone who is interested.

Mine also stick out and arent flush -- at first I didnt like it, but the poke has grown on me.

OP hope you don't mind the question in your thread.

- Anyone who has these, do they hold up against salt and harsh winters? I'm worried about rust

You need to clean them regularly to keep them looking new. I have seen some have almost a gold hue to them over time when not cleaned in normal intervals. Rust is not an issue though.

A harsh winter here is 68 degrees....that being said, I have had these tips on two trucks, and they still look brand new. I do get a full detail every week though. One of the benefits of the detail bay being right next to my bay.

I have a quick question. From what I am understanding is that I can remove the tips without grinding off the weld. If I want to use the clamp on another set of tips I would have to grind the weld off the clamp. Am I on the right page?
