Driving my son's truck (2005 1500/4.7L regular cab long bed) the other day, hit a bump and it felt like the whole truck jumped a half a foot to one side.

Decided that the truck needed new shocks. Ordered the Monroe Gas Magnums for the front and the Monroe Load Adjusters for the rear.

Tonight, I was able to get the front shocks replaced. I know the Monroe's are not anywhere near Bilstein or Fox shocks, for preference, but what an improvement. The handling was much improved along with the ride. The OEM shocks for the front I was able to compress them by hand with little effort, and they did not rebound like they should have.

Unfortunately I was unable to get the nuts off of the bolts for the top mounts for the rear shocks to be replaced. The top nuts are rotted....guess I'll have to get to the shop to get them changed.

shocks are funny,
My 2009 Ram Quad Cab 1500 shocks did not need replacement until 100,000 miles, same with the brakes
My 2016 Ram Quad Cab 1500, shocks allow the truck to toss me all over the place at 65 MPH & i only have 65,000 miles on it.
95% of the driving has been on major highways

Yeah, this truck has about 90k hard miles on it. It was a work truck for sure. Used and abused. Just trying to make it a bit better and safer.

Tires are in the near future...

Got the rear shocks on now. Big difference in the ride and how it handles.

They are a big improvement over what used to be there. Truck seems like it sits up a little higher in the front...the rear definitely does.

Do you have a SawsAll??

Buying one might be less expensive than a shop.

Yeah, all ready done...Sawzall wouldn't have done well that in that tight of a space or me either for that matter.
