^^^ yep. not just a waste of money, but worse sound performance as well. yeah you'll get more sound, but its in the wrong place. $250 components and $50 rear coaxials will sound better than two sets of $150 components

Im sorry , i like my sound to be surround sound .... Not just words up front and bass in the back .. I have a tv up front and a tv in the rear . With a total surround sound its awesome . Think of it as watching tv with surround sound . Different sounds come from different speakers . But with just music ya do just the front . But i watch tv in the truck and want surround sound .
And most of all my music is concert dvd's and they come in surround sound format , unlike a normal music cd .

I wasn't saying no speakers in the back...just saying I would put componets in the front instead of the back. A set a good two way speakers in the back will be ahuge upgrade over stock

its funny. my boston accoustic S65 coaxials ($50) put out better sound than the Alpine Type X components ($120+)

its not about the type of speaker, its about the quality. If these S65's put out this kind of sound, i wonder what their high end stuff is like...

Dave, I understand you wanting surround sound in the rear and thats cool. I'm not sure the OP will primarily be using his system for what you do though. He's better off splitting the budget 70/30 with heavy front than he is 50/50.

Its not even about brand name or even type of speaker.....it is about what kind of sound you like. That is why its best to listen to speakers before you buy.

eh... to an extent. come companies do it right all the way around though. others miss the boat entirely.

silver, its no wonder your mtx sub didnt sound good. mtx is one of those companies that misses the boat all the way around.

Ya i think we all agree mtx sucks balls .

And yes i was just saying that because "that " is what i would do for surround .

But again just do the front if all you do is listen to cd's / radio

I'm looking at everything. been on crutchfield and a few other sites for a few hours today. Just when I think I kinda know what direction I'm headed, something else catches my eye. JL, Polk, Boston, Alpine, Infinity all have some real nice looking stuff. I'm in a hurry to get something, but at the same time want to take my time and research to get the right pieces.
