Muffler swap recommendations

Based on my 9 different muffler changes on my truck with a 5.7 for least drone, in order least to most, pypes violator 18 inch, paradox got tamale, gibson mwa race muffler, black widow widow maker, straight pipe, jones flow pack, 14 inch magna flow type, classic chambered powerstick

Couple things to keep in mind

Straight through design flows better than chambered. 3rd party testing has shown chambered mufflers to actually loose a little hp vs straight through. Not a lot but it was a few hp and results may vary

Watch out for the type of steel used. Some brands use aluminized steel, those are much more susceptible to rust/rot. At a minimum I recommend 409 stainless steel, with 304 stainless steel being an even better option.

Went to my local shop and had the Flowmaster FX installed it was a cut and weld. It was cheaper than installing the do it yourself direct fit version. It is 409 stainless and a straight thru design. I have the dual exhaust and it now has a nice rumble on cold start, no drone on the highway, but it wakes up if you hit it hard. I did not remove the resonators as I'm told it would be quite loud and I wanted a moderate sound. Sounds like a truck now is what the wife said.
