My 5.7 died. Cummins swap?

Okay I have a 2004 single cab short wheel base truck. The body is in great shape. It's time for me to find something more family friendly with my family growing... I'm just not ready yet to give up on this truck..I've always had the idea of putting a 12v cummins in it. So I think I'm going to take on the project...I've been reading where other people have had the same question and everyone trys to talk them out of it .The truck would be just for fun ....I just want to know who's actually done the swap so I can talk to them on what I have to expect with the build.

It can be done, but it's not easy or cheap.

It's been rumored that Cummins has a V6 re-power diesel engine in the works. Depending on it's specs, it could be an interesting drop-in for half-ton trucks.
