So hows your build coming along???

Ran into just about every issue I possibly could. The most complicated portion is getting these components to fit these doors. I modified the 6x9 to 6.5" plates but still won't fit right. These speakers are way oversized and need some more playing with for me to be happy with the fitment.

Things I've completed:

Alpine HU installed with the datalink maestro unit. The Scosche dash kit worked well, but removing the dials/knobs off oem trim was a PITA. It actually took me about 1.5 hours just to get that all pulled apart and back together.

Routed all the RCAs for for front, rear and subs. remote wire as well.

Pulled both headrest monitors and reinstalled them to make them a bit more sunken in. I kind of rushed the original install and didnt get the corners pulled tight enough. So I did those and also re routed all the video cables and power wires for the monitors. Needed to move **** around to avoid other stuff being ran.

Installed the XS power d6500 battery and made extensions compensate for the posts being opposite of factory.

ran the 1/0 gauge power wire and routed the 4 gauge wire to their respective amp locations. Sub amp going under driver seat and the mids/high amp under the passenger seat.

I ordered some taller seat spacers for the rear. the fiberglass box I bought is super nice but have a feeling will need more gap between it and the seat. I already have the old school fox box under there with the 5/8" spacer. but feel that the 1.5" from Net Audio will work better. My fox box is already loaded with 2 JL 12w3v3s. But I'm gonna try shoe horning the Bassforms box in there with 2 Image dynamics idmax 12v4s. I know it sounds impossible, but I have a feeling with a 1/4 ring spacers....these f*ckers will fit LOL!

With only getting a few hours here and there on weekends, this is gonna take me a little longer than expected. I ordered the seat spacers from Net Audio but they are located in TX. been radio silence since my order. Hope they are safe given the disaster done there. So that is holding up part of the build as well.

Anyways, sorry for the LONG dragged out reply. I'm very upset with this so far and not being where I wanna be at by now. But it will get done, just ned to get creative with the doors and spacers.

Finally got the Infinity Kappa Perfect 600s and 300m installed! What a PITA! Deciding where to mount the tweeters was an event all of its own. I had to place it several spots and came to just mounting them with the 6.5"s. I flipped the front doors to avoid cutting up EVERYTHING to make them fit. The tweeter housing was a tad over 2 1/8" and needed to use a rotozip to make some room. The Dash speakers (300Ms) needed two out of 4 tabs lobbed off to fit the pocket. These speakers are bit oversized. Measuring more like 6 3/4 and 3 3/4. the tweeters as mentioned were the largest I've experienced. The housing that is. Anyways, hooked them up temporarily to the Alpine HU, since I'm still waiting on some spacers for the back seat. I want to mount them behind it, instead of under the front seats. So I needed to keep some tunes going after each bit I do on this truck. But I did run the actual wires to go to the amp. So when I get to that point, I'll just need to remove the door skins and swap the wires really quick.Here's a few photos of what I ended up doing. The front doors are flipped. I did not notice any impact better of worse in either position. Still bright and blends well with the dash speakers. If these sounfd this good before they are fully broken in and only being driven bu the HU.......I'm in some serious trouble once I feed these things with the RF power T600!!! They sound F*CKING AMAZING!

the crossover is massive as I stated in another post. This is when I was mocking up a place to mount it. I wound up using velcro and this is temporary until I finally amplify the components. They will be relocated back in the cab when the time comes.

Don't hate on this pic, There was no way of getting 12 gauge AND the 14 gauge through the regular way. In the end, it did the job. Just need to zip tie it or wrap it up with something nice.

Speakers look very nice, I am impressed! I will be very happy for you if you are able to get those IDMAX 12's into your truck. At 8.15" mounting depth, that's a deep sub but they are one of my all time favorite subs. I have Arc Black 12's and I love them, but sometimes I wish they were a bit more rowdy like the IDMAX subs. Those IDMAX subs don't do anything bad....they're a very well rounded sub. I dreamed about getting a single IDMAX15 into my RAM but I never got around to it. Best of luck!

With all the spacers and readjustments to the seats, I couldn't get them to fit
My kids car seat still needs to be in there and safe. If I didnt have a kid, I'd take the damn back seat out and fit them in! I went and returned them and am waiting on my 2 12w6v3s. They will do, just wish it was the IDs. In the meantime.....I'm just tuning the system in now and using my 12w3s. Sounds amazing all around but need to take it easy on the infinity speakers while breaking them in.

No, not yet. I need to tune this the best I can and see how everything sounds. In all honesty, I have zero vibration or rattling anywhere? with time, something is surely gonna loosen up on me. But as of right now, it sounds damn good for what it is!

At a minimum at least do your front outer door skin before you tune your system. You will get a better mid bass response and pick up a couple db's in the process. What are you using to tune your system.

tuning with the Alpines x over, time correction, 9 band parametric eq and all the little **** the headhunt has. Its a tad bit more involved than what I was used to in 2010 LOL! I'm getting old. Anyways, I go by my ears. but have the settings to a general liking but need to adjust and tighten it all up. I'm letting the head unit do the work and basically pass through slightly lower at the amps. the crossovers for the components are actually the last stage. I tried both high pass and low pass, for the 3 way sets up front, it made a better improvement in only sending the mid/low end to the 6.5s, obviously the higher midshipmen's to the 3.5s and tweeters are self explanatory! But switched it back to hi pass as I'm breaking in the speakers and don't wanna push them too hard right now.

But as I'm typing this, I am also looking at matting for the door skins! It doesn't take much to convince me to spend some money if it will improve mids. what do you recommend?

Stinger roadkill, dynamat, are the most popular but there are a lot of different brands that will accomplish the same thing. Make sure to level match your system too if you haven't already done so.

I'll snap a few tomorrow when it's light out! I really wanted to mount them behind the back seat. But my last setup in my old 07 Ram, the under seat location worked okay. Just not willing to cut carpet up to put something underneath to screw them down. So all I did was buy a few straps that had Velcro ends. Where you loop them at each end. So all I did was cut two slits, front and back and strap them in. So I'll wind up doing the same in my 2016. They are currently just sitting there loose. But the wiring and cables keep them semi taunt.

I agree, I'd atleast sound deaden the front doors...get as much midbass out of those doors as possible. Also, a little trick that someone taught me....as you start listening to your music and increasing the volume after break in...certain songs/frequencies will start creating resonances here and there...I would take painters tape and mark where certain buzzes are coming from on the door panels, overhead console, certain interior panels...then after a few weeks of listening and marking, address all the buzzes with butyl based deadener.

Yea for sure! I had already done some deadening and considered my install done...but I kept a few 12"x12" sheets lying around just in case...i ended up using all the left overs tracking down buzzes and it worked out great. My fox box was buzzing against the floor as well but a little deadener cured that right up. Good luck with the rest of the install! You're gonna never want to leave your truck!
