Well, cruising home from the airport a couple nights ago I got a random shudder on the highway off and on with a flashing CEL. Quick scan showed the P0303, misfire on cylinder 3. Swapped the coil and plugs with cylinder 1 to see if it followed, it didn't FML. Cranked it up and it's got a bad tick from the left bank. Just dropped it off at my brothers shop, they're tearing into it to look for a broken valve spring. Keep y'all fingers crossed that a lifter didnt collapse. I checked the oil and it doesn't seem to be making metal, so hopefully the cam is still good!
107k miles, stock with a flowmaster...
I'll keep y'all updated...

Broken spring would probably be the most common culprit. Bit of a PITA to change springs on these trucks but if one went I'd suggest doing them all. It's a fairly common problem. I believe Ram has gone through something like 4 revisions on Hemi springs since 2003.

Yep, I've heard the same... I just wish I had the time to do it myself. I hate paying people to Work on my trucks.

As of yesterday, they're digging deeper. Valve springs were good, now it's onto the lifters and possibly the valve seats

Ok here we go... Exhaust cam lobe on #3 is wiped. Not completely which is good so there's not much metal in the motor. What really sucks is cylinder 3 isn't an mds cylinder, so that really makes me wonder why the lifter went bad.
So, I'm ordering a factory cam, new set of 6.1L lifters and having them unplug the Mds solenoids and getting a tuner. Ouch...
