My review of BFG K02's

I 2nd or 3rd the wet traction issues with the k02’s. Mine are not even a year old, maybe 8000ish miles, great tread yet, but flat out sketchy as hell in the rain. Taking off from a stop light is often a joke. I have to put it in 4wd if i want to take off fast. They will easily break loose kicking the truck down a few gears to pass someone…even at 60+ mph.

Im worried about how this winter is gonna go.

What tire pressure are you using and what is the manufacturing date stamp on your tires?

I ran KO2's on mu truck for 4 years in Alaska. Except for the thaw when you were driving on wet ice I had no issues and really liked them.

Around 40 up front and 35 out back. Date code is 28th week of 2022.

Im confused as well. Ran several sets of ko2’s and never noticed a wet traction issue before.

^^^ I run 40psi cold front and rear on my 1500 and rotated every third oil change.

Albeit I migrated out of the BFG KO2's for a different brand this season, when I did have them on for my summers I experienced wet road traction issues. Especially in heavy rain and puddling situations.

What did you put on for summer tires? What size K02's were you using? It's worth pointing out that in order to have an honest comparison between tires the same size needs to be compared. Same with the class of tire - if you went from a K02 down to a highway designed tire then of course the K02's are rough and noisy, but you didnt buy them so they would be quiet and smooth haha.

Agreed.. I had LT285/65R20's for my BFG KO2's. I've always run 40psi cold (drivers door jam sticker calls for 39psi cold front and rear), and rotated every third oil change, too. And I don't care one bit about fuel economy nor smooth, per se. But, I expect balance and tractionability! (is this a real word....lol )

My issues with the BFG's was balance first and then traction in wet second, and not noise. And I found that the more they aged the more balance issues occurred, and the less they hooked up, too. It was at the beginning of this summer that I had enough (third summer on them) where it was between 7+oz and 10+oz per tire that it took to zero out on a road force, and even then at 100km/h to 120km/h there was still ridiculous vibrations, and wet traction was garbage, for my tastes, that is!

I put on LT295/65R20 Michelin LTX M/S tires at the beginning of this summer and the difference has been appreciable. These are fantastic tires that deliver what I expect in my chosen road conditions.

I had a problem last winter with mine loading with icy slush and have bought a set of chains to remedy the issue now.
My KO’s are undefeatable in the rain I but with the sidewall ratio I am using I have them at around 48 to 50 psi this is my second set and I only get around 20,000 out of them, I figure this may be because of their softer composition for snow classification.

I had KO2s in LT235/80R17 and the 34x10.5R17 on my F150.
They run small, significantly so. My 34s were smaller than a LT275/70R18.
Good in snow, gravel, very quiet for such an aggressive look, got louder with age but still reasonable.
I can agree with horrible wet pavement traction. I had a 3.7 NA F150 and lots of weight in the truck and would get spinning on wet pavement.
Useless on ice.
For the cost of them now I am certainly going another direction with my new Ram. 285/75R17 seems to be the narrowest tire larger than 33" out there.
I'm also happy to hear if the tires work out well for people. Because they are super expensive and it sucks to drop that coin and be disappointed

Just upgraded mine last week. Went with the 35x12.5 R17 and have no issues at all. They actually ride better than what came on the rig stock and are less noisy.
