Navigation Is Irritating

Is there a way to limit how much Navigation talks? So far all I can find is on or off. I'd like to get alerted to the upcoming right turn, but don't want to hear about the traffic jam ahead every 20 seconds.

Also, is there a way to turn off, or limit the alternate route popup? That damn thing will pop up 15 times while at the same stoplight

I don’t use the factory NAV, my 18 has CarPlay so I use google maps etc for my nav.

You should be able to limit things like alternative routes or remove traffic notifications.

On my 8.4 once I punch in an address the Options show up in the lower right hand side of the screen if I remember right,and you should find a volumn control

Volume is easy. It's the content I want to limit. Also, my alternate route popup covers the entire screen (almost) making it useless until I clear it. Then three seconds later it pops up again

I think I found the settings I was looking for. We'll see Wednesday when I have to go to the Bay Area again

I turn my voice completely off. The directions come up on the cluster screen when I get close to turning. That's really nice when I take a detour to grab lunch or fuel along the way and it keeps trying to prompt me to turn around.

If the changes I made don't help I'll go back to that for sure .It's the alternate route popup that's the worst though. Hopefully the changes I made will resolve that. I'll find out Wednesday. I'll post results

I don't think there is a brief or detailed setting on the nav like the voice commands on the radio

Is it perhaps a setting in the sirius menu. I don't have sirius traffic subscription so I don't get traffic alerts or alternate routes suggested.

I have a '16 VP4 in my truck, I have Sirrius, Traffic and Weather, etc. And I have never seen it offer me an alternate route... I've had my standalone Garmin GPS do so, once, several years ago near D.C....

That would probably be 17.43.01, assuming it's a US truck. That might be the difference then.
