Need a little help !

We were pulled over by the DOT in Arkansas today and giving a warning we exceeded our GVWR Limit.
The question is the sticker on the truck shows a GVWR OF 12,500. All information I can find shows all 2wd Dodge 2010 6.7l Cummings 3500 series trucks have a weight rating of 11,500 pounds. This is a cab chassis model regular cab if that makes a difference. This ticket is substantial so I need help clarifiyng. Could the door sticker be wrong by chance ?????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exceeded theGVWR rating, or exceeded the GVWR the truck was licensed for? Wondering which they based the ticket on—this sounds like they didn’t have accurate info on what the truck is rated for, as a cab/chassis unit. I’d expect the door sticker to be the accurate information.

If your sticker shows GVWR of 12500 then the DOT should be using that weight. I don't know what your truck weights, you should stop at a scale and get the weight of your truck fully loaded (fuel and passages) less your TT and keep that in your grove box, I can't imagine your truck weighting more then 7000 lbs and I think I am high so that leaves around 5000lbs for gear and the hitch weight. Is your TT a 5th wheel or a ball mount? How much dose your TT weight? A ball mount is 10-15% of the trailer weight and a 5th wheel I think is 20% of the trailer (I am sure someone can tell you for sure a 5th wheel weight) You said that you got a warning so there was no fine yet, you are the first person that I have read to get a warning with out being so over weight that the officer saw you going down the road and thought you where unsafe.

I don't know AR rules, I am from OH. In Ohio you have 2 different plates on trucks, one for commercial and ones for regular trucks not for hire. Commercial plates you pay for how much you can haul and regular plates are for personal use. Do you have commercial plates?
