Hi all,

I'm hoping someone with experience or knowledge about heated and cooled seats can help me out. I have a full set of Katzkin leather seats with the heated and cooled modules. I absolutely love them and basically got the entire interior for free!

My truck originally came with heated seats and a heated steering wheel. I sold the old seats but kept the wiring harness and control modules. My goal now is to control the aftermarket heated and cooled seats using the stock controls. To do this, I plan to use relays or possibly a Raspberry Pi to interpret the signals from the truck’s system and control the seats.

What I’m looking for are resistance readings for the heating pads, fans, and thermistors in the seats. info on readings on voltage outpur or PWM from the modulke would be nice to If anyone has this info or is willing to help out, it would be greatly appreciated. I need to trick the truck into thinking the original components are still connected so the system engages properly. This can hopefully be done by using a dummy load.

Any advice, help, or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can post this again in the Audio & Electronics section to get a “quicker” response hopefully.
I think most members browse all the sections & there are several very knowledgeable members that are always helping people, they might see it sooner in A&E.
@RamDiver & @ SitKneelBend are a couple that have helped me with their experience/knowledge.

Your project sounds like an interesting adventure but also a bit like trying to reinvent the wheel.

You might save lots of time and grief by obtaining AlfaOBD with an OBDLink interface and making use of the existing OEM CAN bus system instead of trying to build a canabalized version.

There are many posted threads here discussing this topic and many experienced members to provide assistance but once your adventure ventures into a customized system, you may not find many experienced users to assist.

The other plus feature is that AlfaOBD has many useful tweaks to customize your truck.

I will check for whatever else I can find on the subject and the AlfaOBD options the next time I have my PC on, using the stupid phone at the moment.

@SitKneelBend may have more ideas.

The following thread may have a few ideas. :cool:

ill move this to the other post but I've found that these seat most likely are Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor resistance drops as temp rises i could not find these exact heating temp probes but on most testing charts i could find it looks like a 10k ohm resister should read room temp so ill start with that and the upper pad is 3 to 4 ohms and the lower is 2 to 3 ohms this should allow it to turn on so i can see if its pwm or pure voltage controll which i feel is most likely controlled 0 to 12 vdc then have toi figure out the fans there is not temp signal for them so they turn on as long as a load is sensed these seem to be very low resistance from what ive found less than 2 ohms and some refrences that the fans are simply controlled by variable voltage.

I appreciate the vote of confidence guys but @reyokonova is way ahead of me on this one (taught me a thing or two)...

He's just digging for known good comparisons now and I don't have the features he needs to compare with.
