My truck recently died on me while driving and I got it towed home. I took the battery to autozone and found out that it had a bad cell. I replaced the battery along with the alternator and continued driving. Two weeks after the replacement, my truck died again. I took it to firestone near my house and the informed me that the starter is drawing 796 amps from the battery. The spec states that it is supposed to draw 150. Simple fix: replace the starter. I was also informed that the positive cable connecting the battery to the starter is corroded, but it isn't a simple case of replacing the wire itself. The cable on this model ram is integrated into the engine harness and and the entire harness needs to be replaced.

My question(s): has anyone else had a similar issue? Should I just replace the starter? If you have experienced this, how did you fix it?

The local dodge dealer said that the harness costs 1700.00. I have been unable to locate one online. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
