I don't think even the long frame 4500 would be long enough. All the 4500s I see have crew cabs or single cabs on them.

And then I think the 5500 would be too long. Like what the flat bed tow truck RAMs are.

Can't wait to see that vin. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong here, sounds like a cool truck.

I think the guy’s just fulla crap. I don’t know about the manual transmission but the only way I know of to get a mega 8’ bed anything is go to a limo shop or whoever just specializes in these conversions alone unless the frame is long enough to do all that on the 4500/5500 without cutting the frames, extending them and welding them back together.

It’s just like when I was shopping for my new halfton several years ago- I really wanted the sport hood; the one that has the faux hood scoops on it but if you selected the chrome bumper/grille group, you couldn’t get it. It had to be the sport model or any of the other trim packages that had the painted mirrors, bumpers and grille. I still could’ve gotten it but it would’ve had to come without it and then I’d have to pay them extra to buy a new hood and pay them to paint it and put it on so, I could see the manual trans and a long bed being installed later but I don’t see him buying a full, complete cab.

Oh, and on a side note, I did see years ago where I used to live where a guy had a 2nd Gen Dodge Ram 3500 that actually had a full, four-door cab on it. I didn’t know the guy personally to ask where that came from but I saw it several times. Mexico, maybe? I do know there was a two-door Ramcharger based on the 2nd Gen Dodge Rams but it was only available in Mexico. And speaking of which, during my several trips down to Laredo Texas back when I ran over the road when I had just started my trucking career, I did see either some 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen 4500 and 5500’s when as far as know, Dodge/Ram didn’t start selling those in the states until the 4th Gens came out, correct?
The 4 door 2nd gens were available in the US. The Ramcharger was a Dodge Durango only sold in Mexico. The 4500 and 5500s 2nd gen Rams were also only sold in Mexico

Hey y’all, I’ve got this guy on TickTock saying he was able to order, from Ram, either a ‘21 or ‘22 4500 cab and chassis mega cab that’s CA-length with the longer frame that he’s claiming is long enough for an 8-foot dually bed to be mounted at the dealer when it all shows up…. He’s also saying it’s coming with a manual trans so, is there something I don’t know or is this guy fulla ****??

I know the standard transmissions died out in 2018….and the last I heard, the mega wasn’t available on the 4500s so for one, how is this longer frame big enough for the bigger cab and the longer bed?
Could be Mexicasn marketg truck. TGhey sell a lot of different configuratgions south of the border for Mexico and Central/South America. Have seen meg cab models on 300 long beds with Mexikcan plates on them here in south TGexas so would not sur[rise me to see something like this described. Never know.

The 2nd Gen four door quads or crews? If you’re talking about crews then why in all the 20+ years of finally seeing one for the first time in the late 90’s to early 2000’s was the only one I’ve ever seen? Kinda sounds incorrect to me because if they were truly available in the US, you’d think we’d have seen a bunch of them.

I believe the 4500 is available with a manual transmission in the Mexican market.

That bragging has been happening seemingly forever.
No way that RAM would produce that due to length of frame issues. Exactly why today one CANNOT order a MC with an 8' bed.
Case closed. Yes I have talked to multiple dealers about this issue and come away with the same answer from all of them!

The true 4 door trucks. They were whitefish order and expensive. They are 4 for sale in my area and I own one that needs restored. Nobody saw a true 4 door as practical at that time. My old books show that one and the stepside which were both special order and technically not done by dodge.

Hmm... I still find that weird because I have only seen ONE in over the past twenty years and not only that, being that I've been to every state in the continental US, still only one I saw which is why I always thought it was either custom or maybe they were making them in Mexico and somebody brought it up here.

But I wouldn't go as far to say nobody wanted one because Ford, Chevy and GM were making them left and right and I've seen plenty that were owned by plain ole people just the same as all the 4-door crew cab half-tons you see now.

In Mexico they have made a Ram 700 for several years
count the pedals

2021-Ram-700-3.jpg

The Ram 1500 down there sits on a 3/4 ton frame
It does read 1500 on the doors

Some 1500s over the last many years have been built in Saltillo Mexico
They have built them at the end of a Production year, when they know that the number of orders out number the amount of time left before they have to start production of the next year models.

A friend had a 1500 with 3/4 front suspension, brakes, etc, it was 2005

I have read several posts where members have stated that their 1500s were built in Saltillo
I have always wondered if those Ram also had the heavy suspension, steering, etc.

The 5500s come in a much longer wheelbase than the megacab 3500 so no issue lengthwise putting a megacab with 8'box. I think the longest chassis 5500 is a touch over 3' longer wheelbase so could do mega cab and 10' box if it existed. I see crew cab/12'deck all the time. No manual as far as I know, but if it is an out of country 5500 that might be different. Regardless, why does it bother you so much. Internet is full of BS and if you spend your time trying to call everybody on it you'll never have any free time or make a dent in it. On another note. I built a space shuttle out of a JD lawn tractor. I'd post more, but the project is classified.

Can you post the serial # on that JD just to verify? In case some parts from space fall on my property I'll know it's not just another cam/lifter failed Ram instead?lol

First of all, this doesn’t bother me at all, it’s just simply called being curious and just wanting to know the truth. Maybe manufacturers CAN cater to pretty much any request, even if it isn’t “in the system” as an option and maybe they can’t. Besides, it’s something to talk about.

But yeah, I’m sure the lengths available they have are probably long enough to fit a mega cab and an 8 foot bed but the question of the matter is, do they [Chrysler] produce one without having to go to a specialized shop afterwards? That’s pretty much what the threads about.
