The fogs are H10. The headlights depend on if you have the quad or dual style setup. H11 for the lows and 9005 for the highs in the quad lamp setup. H13 for headlights for the duals.

9006 bulbs will work in the 09-12 fogs. Just have to file the one tab a little.

Im confused. Can I not just get under my truck and switch the stock fog bulbs to a brighter bulb? If so, then why the price variance between the bulbs for a few dollars and what Im seeing on the Retro Site for over 10 times that..

What am I missing?

Stock bulbs are halogen and don't put out anywhere near the light that an HID light does. Halogen bulbs are simple and cheap, whereas the HID kits come with bulbs, ballasts, and a custom wiring harness.

I see. I was under the impression that the HID bulb was plug and play for the fog lights. This is not true? Upgrading my bulbs in the fogs will cost me 150 bucks? Seems like a lot of money to simply have a brighter fog light. Its not THAT important to me. lol

Some trucks are ok as a plug n play setup.........some aren't.

We send a relay harness with every fog order. It ensures that you get the right power to your HIDs. Period. ;)

The HID kits I sell for the fogs aren't $150 (thats the price on the site, before adding to the cart to lower to $135). Are there other kits out that are cheaper, **** yes. You'll get what you pay for as well. I ran a $30 eBay kit on my truck for a while. They flickered 2 weeks later, started strobing and went to ****. Company wouldn't answer emails, they were trashed.

The company I get mine through has 5 full time AMERICANS to answer the phone if you have ANY questions. No BS warranty too. If its bad, they take care of it. I'm glad to be a reseller for them and not just using the cheapest crap I can shove in a light. ;)

Sooo, they are plug and play. But not for all trucks? Is there some way to tell before I spend money on this? Im all for customer service, especially american customer service, but Im not really sure what im paying for otherwise (even after your explanation). Im not interested in buying the cheapest kit out there. Im thinking there might be a middle ground somewhere. Im just interested in figuring out why i need to spend so much more.

Just for the record, I have Zero doubt that JJ is in fact a stand up guy. I know from experience that he is.

You can't tell if your truck will work pnp until the lights are in.

Hell, mine worked for a few weeks before failing........

Run the harness. Its included in the kit, and it won't take that long. Easy as pie.

What you are paying for is the expertise of my supplier, and the quality control. No cheap ****, period.

I put the 9005 high beam in my fogs(halogen). Much better than they stock fog bulbs. do so at your own risk though; some people were afraid that the extra heat could melt the housing. Its probably not as good of a fix as HIDs but I did it in the winter outside so that was the best option for me.

I put a Sylvania Ultrastar 9005 in my fogs before I had HIDs, it was bright as hell! It definitely is a good upgrade for those who don't want to go HID. I'm not sure about heat, as I don't really use my fogs unless the weather requires it

Cool. Thank you. So I would be paying for peace of mind and quality product. I understand that. Not sure why cheap "stuff" was ever brought into play. I was never interested (or ever have been) in buying anything cheap. Obviously not or I wouldn't have been on the retro site. ;) Just didn't understand the price differentiation in the situation. I'm all about paying more for getting more. Just need to understand what the heck I'm paying more for. Then I can feel good about the decision I made.

It's the same thing I did when I bought headlights from some site called Retro Shop. Good stuff AND I feel great about the decision. Look how that works out. :happy160:

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I know you're a busy man.
