I have a ram with 90k miles and the powertrain warranty expires the end of this year or if I am to hit 100k miles. Ive gotten my alignment done twice and the guys said something was wrong with my truck so they couldn’t adjust the steering wheel perfectly. They showed me the alignment sheets and everything was done right but the steering wheel was wrong. Also when I turn my steering wheel all the way I hear a loud bang in the front. Question is can I go to a dealership and have them diagnose it for free or would I have to pay them if the warranty doesn’t cover it and they’ve “diagnosed” the issue. Basically I dont want to pay the dealer for a check up when I can have a regular mechanic shop can do it for way less. Thanks for the responses in advance

Doesn't sound like the problem would be part of the drivetrain. I doubt anything would be covered.

Suspension not covered under powertrain. Unless you have have extended warranty, maxcare or a third party warranty, you’ll have to pay diag. Even with extended warranty, you would have to pay a deductible in most cases.

My guess is something got bent in your front end. Regardless, I would take it to the dealer and pay the diagnostic fee. At least you'd walk out knowing what's wrong and what it would take to fix it. They would be the only ones to let you know what would be covered.

Def sounds like something suspension. Save yourself time and find a reputable shop. Could be track bar making the pop when you turn. Bushing all kids of things could be going on.

1457, why would you drive with that condition. Why didn't the front end shop tell you what the problem was and how much to correct. That is the business they are in. A loud bang on a full turn is not good. Could be anything from a worn out bushing in the upper or lower control arm, tie rod end or ball joint. Want to see you get from 22 to 72.
