I have a 2016 Ram Crewcab with the non amp 6 speaker system. I am looking to upgrade my system. I'm thinking about the Kicker CS or Infinity Ref for all speaker. After reading several and searching several post I'm confused. I listen to all kinds of music. I don't want something too bright and I like base. Do I need 2 or 3 way speakers for the doors? A woofer only for the front door or 2 way in the front and 3 way in the back? I'm very confused

Also do I need a bass block and a resistor for the dash speakers?

Way later down the line I plan on adding a mini power sub and maybe a kicker key.

I have search for the answers but I just ended up getting confused.

I had the same system in my Ram before I upgraded. You can replace all your speakers in your truck. Infinity reference series are nice speakers as well as kicker. Basically you would be replacing all the factory with aftermarket. You want bass i would recommend a pair of 10s that would fit underneath the back seat. You can check out my thread and get some ideas. If you have any questions send me a message

I upgraded my 6 speakers in my truck a couple years ago. I used JBL Club series in my truck. The 6x9’s in the 4 doors can put out good base, but could still benefit from a sub. I’m planning on putting a powered sun in mine some day. The speaker upgrade did make the oem head unit sound much better. The year after the speaker upgrade I upgraded the head unit. That made the speakers sound better then what the oem 5” head unit that was in it.

What I am most currious about is should I be getting 2 ways or 3 ways for the doors or a combination of the two.

I have 6.5" 3 ways in front and I think 6x9 2 ways in the rear.
You will need to resistor the front 3.5" speakers unless you can find 8 ohm little speakers.

On mine bass is minimal at low volume, give it some volume and the rears rattle the doors.

I have Pioneer TS-D6902R 6"x9" 2-Way Speakers in the rear.
In the front a set of Pioneer 3 way 6.5 speakers. TS-A1671R - mainly because they were just sitting around and collecting dust, I may change them to 6x9's yet.
