Warmed up my 04 ram yesterday and got in it to drive. Had problems backing out, it seemed like it wouldnt engage. It did however and i took off up the street, all of the sudden it started reving up high and seemed to be slipping out of gear, then an extremely strong burnt electrical smell enveloped the cab. I nursed it home in low and parked it. Now it won't move. It will not engage into drive, reverse, low or second. The four wheel drive will engage on the floor in all positions however. It has never shown any signs of a tranny issue. Shifts smooth, never bucks and all of the sudden nothing. What the hell could've happened?! This truck is my baby! Help!

Have you checked to see what the transmission fluid looks like? How many miles on the truck and have you had the trans fluid changed recently? Was reading online that a bad converter will often give a vibration when it's about to go.

Its thrown a code but my mechanic hasnt ran it yet will tomorrow. Truck has 146k on it and trans has been flushed every 40k and isnt due until 160k. Zero vibration this was literally completlely out of the blue.

Sounds like it could be a clogged filter. Could try taking off the pan and replacing it. This would also let you see what condition the fluid is in. That's probably where I would start.
