Need some help from the forum, well a favour actually

I need a favour from someone,

Would someone with the 8.4 and single zone heat controls do a little test for me....

truck running, heat temp hot, zone wherever and fan speed medium, turn on the recirculate mode. Once recirc is on does it also turn the ac on too? Let the system run like this for 5-10 minutes, does the system turn recirc off automatically ?

Mine acts this way, turn recirc on, ac comes on with it. after 5-10 minutes the truck will shut recirc off on its own.

I had my truck at the dealer today to get this checked out, it has no HVAC codes present. They also tested their trucks on the lot 4th gen body style and only found one other one that acted this way ( and the one that did it beside mine was on a dual temp model ). So they don't know if my truck is working correctly or not. They are going to contact Ram engineering to see how the system should act.

Im thinking mine is faulty and it should remain in recirc until either the truck is shut off or cancelled by me.

If we could get a couple ppl to try this and get a survey going that would be great!!

ATC or non-ATC? If ATC any zone "can" use the compressor. If non-ATC zone cannot be "wherever" as 2 of the zones will use the compressor, defrost and defrost/floor.

Same as mine then. Compressor cycles in both defrost and defrost/floor but not in others. The recirc definitely effects the length of compressor run time.

I don't need to know if the compressor itself is working, just if the a/c light comes on when the recirc button is pushed.

On most vehicles, its normal to have the ac compressor running when a defrost mode is activated, the ac will help dry the air, and make the defrost more efficient. Usually the ac light does not come on to indicate it though.

Didn't know you were asking about the light itself, you asked if it turned the AC on. No, my light does not come on. My recirc also stays on until I change it.

As stated above the AC light doesn't come on even though it is enabled anytime air is directed out of the defroster vents. Also I don't think recirculation is allowed when defrost is selected, the air outside is usually drier that what's inside the vehicle.
The only time I've seen the AC light come on is when I've selected it.
