Well I bought a 2011 335 xdrive msport this summer .. Great deal and find.. New with 9k miles and 30k..

I decided to list it because as nice as it is it's not that useful .. It's tiny bit fun to drive and the family is not a fan of it once in a while when we use it (other car is suv this is my work DD)

So I love the ram sport a lot but confused about pricing .. I see some used 2014 going as much as 38k and noticed a post here that someone got a 2016 for 40k

Is it better to go new or used? Also noticed some talk about gears - 3.92 are must have ?

Also how do you like your trucks? I would love to get one with some 32" tires and black wheels - just fun for summer to the beach and winter weather here in ne pa

The tech is nice too from what I read

Thanks for your input my car is listed hope it sells so I can recoup some down payment money and grab a ram

Depends on what you fully plan to use it for. 3.92 are nice for towing and from my understanding power, but not a deal breaker in my opinion. As far as buying new or used, honestly only you can answer that. I don't mind used as I mod my vehicles as soon as I get them, so really no need to remove good/new parts.

In my opinion it's better to buy new with all the discounts/rebates specially if you can find a 2015 now.
On the 3.92 gear opinion, I had it before on my last truck 14 now I have the 3.21 gears on my 15 and to be honest I don't miss it the only difference is the 3.92 accelerates way quicker but still don't regret it. I don't tow or anything as well so for me gears is not a big deal.

In many cases manufactures rebates and incentives, plus dealer discounts, bring the price of a new truck down quite a bit. This, along with fairly good resale values, is why you hear of people getting a new truck for just a few thousand more than a used one. You would have to look at pre 2013 trucks to see the prices getting lower. 2013 is when Ram made some improvements to the trucks. The 8-speed auto became available with the Hemi, updated interiors & electronics, and improved fuel efficiency.

FCA 2013 Ram press release here ->http://media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?&fIId=12166&id=12220&mid=23

3.92 if you plan to tow trailers over about 6000 lbs on a regular basis. Also if you are more performance minded (I guess with a BMW 335i you might be). 3.21 if fuel economy is of greater importance. With either gearset, the general consensus is get the rear LSD (limited slip differential) option.

Any of the trucks with 20" wheels will come with 275/60 tires, which measure at about 33".

I was initially looking for a used 2014, but any 2014 4wd sport with less than 30k miles in my area was going for roughly $35,000-$39,000. New 2015 sport 4wd trucks were in the range of about $42,000-$45,000. This time of year, dealerships are anxious to move inventory, and if you hold your ground on price, they will almost always work with you. I had to go back to my dealership 4 times before they finally gave in and gave me the price I was looking for. I let them call me as not to make me sound desperate for the truck...they called me every other day for almost 2 weeks. Mine stickered at $49,900, and I got it for just over $37,000 before TTL...It came out right at $40,000 out the door.

As for gearing, I am a performance minded guy and will be using this truck to pull my other truck to the track. I wouldn't even consider a truck with 3.21's for my needs and driving style. If you care more about mileage and less about performance, then there is nothing wrong with the 3.21's.

My old 2013 was a 6 speed with 3:92's my new 2015 is 8 speed with 3:21's. In my opinion the difference is not noticable all that much.

That is all in the transmission. An 8sp with 3.21's will outrun a 6sp with 3.92's, but an 8sp with 3.92's will outrun an 8sp with 3.21's.

I only wish that I had the 8 speed just for the smoothness associated with it. Alas since I really don't need a truck it really doesn't make sense for me to buy another lol...

Coming from a '12 6 spd with 3.92s, I am pretty impressed with my new '15 8 spd with 3.21s. Mileage is great and pulling power is plenty for everything I tow. Very smooth also.

So should I ask for new leftover 2015 or 2016 and aim for 40k otd?

What I love is the center concole with the buckets so much room to store stuff

I notice the rear bench in the middle as all dodge trucks the seat is shallower .. Can a person sit in the middle ? Why is it like this? I notice ford has same width bench all the way across

So 392 and 321 not a game changer ? The 392s must really make it fun off the light

Try for a 2015 if they still have them

The back seat in the middle is a little uncomfortable accordingly to my wife since she sits there with the baby, we did see the new F150 and she likes it cause of the same width seats, idk why ram does the middle seat shorter.

And yeah the 392 can be fun at the stop light, but if you get the 321 you'll get used to it like me

Good luck with your decision

The only full width rear seat is in the Mega Cab in 2500/3500 models.

What city/state are you in?

I would look for a leftover 2015 and shoot for about $12k off sticker price. Any more than $12k off, and you did great. Any less than $12k, and you could have probably found a dealer that is more willing to work.

You'll enjoy either axle ratio with the 8 speed. If you have a choice, honestly assess how much highway (65+mph) driving you do, and unless it's mostly highway, I'd go with the 3.92 ratio. Getting the options you want (new or used) is a must. Adding lux things, like the cooled seats, is more trouble and $$ than it's worth. CC with the Rambox makes it a tailgating/road trip machine. Some guys don't like them, I'll never buy a truck again without them.

For dollar reference, MSRP on my 2014 was $54,1xx and I bought one year old back in August (2015), 14k miles, for $38k plus TTL. That was a little under FMV at the time... But I got everything I wanted - Rambox, Air suspension, and every lux option the Sport comes with. The only option it doesn't have is the 32 gallon gas tank, and the OEM wheel to wheel side steps (it has OK aftermarkets on it, $400 will change that). So I didn't want to **** around and miss out on it, after 3 months of trying to find exactly what I wanted.

Good luck!
