Nerf Bar Installation

I ordered a set of aftermarket nerf bars for my truck. I went to install them tonight and there are what looks to be factory nuts stuck in the holes where the mounting hardware is supposed to go. How in the heck do I get those out so I can get these bars installed? The build sheet I got from Dodge says that there were bars when it was built but the previous owner must have removed them for some reason. Every install video I have seen shows these holes as just holes and no nuts. My install instructions say they same, needless to say this has halted my install for the time being.

I installed my aries steps and there was 4 or something bolts i had to remove to install.. but yes post pic, chances are its the same bolts i had to remove and you just take them out

No pics unfortunately but I did get them out, used a flat tip screwdriver and a big hammer and banged them out.
