Net Audio adapter question

I’m doing away with the factory alpine sub and I’m going to be installing a JL Audio 10W3v3-4 and Alpine MRV-M500 amp. I’ve seen in other threads on here that some people use this adapter on the install:

I’m just confused on what exactly this adapter does. Does it eliminate the need of an amp kit? Or does it eliminate the need of part of the amp kit? What’s it’s roll in the install process?

Based on the description on the page, when you remove the existing Alpine amp, this plugs into the factory wiring harness so you can get audio signal and other necessary functions to your aftermarket amp without splicing wires
