Also it only taps on one side that I can tell

Pull the valve cover off that side and inspect everything and stop running it. If something is wrong, you will make it much worse by running it. Make sure your push rods are seated correctly. Turn the crank with a breaker bar and watch your rocker arms, valve springs, and push rods. It could be something like a bad lifter or a bent push rod. A bent push rod would occur if it wasn't seated correctly when you went to start it. I always turn the engine over by hand with the covers off before first start up to make sure nothing is binding.

Hard to diagnose something without hearing it in person. Mine ticks but I also have a cam and the hemi tick I get is perfectly normal.

The push rods. Half of them are longer than the others. Do the longer ones go on the intake or exhaust side?????

Thats the problem then... I put longer on the intakes... hopefully I didn't screw the lifters up

Actually I'm taking it apart and I put long on exhaust short on intake.... exhaust side is the bottom side by the exhaust and intake is on the top side right?

Correct. The longer ones are the exhaust and are on the "bottom" side where the exhaust runners are. Check all of them and make sure they aren't bent before reinstalling them.

Might be better to just buy a whole new set of lifter rods to be on the safe side.

Yeah I had it right, I'm ordering new pushrods. One I can tell is bent. I'm really hoping that this will solve the whole thing

Since this is hydraulic should I be able to take the rocker arm and pull it up pushing the pushrod down? Or does that means I have a bad lifter?

I've got all the push rods out. Some have some tips that look like theyve been grinded.I'm rolling them on a flat surface to see if any are bent but I cant tell. Any better ways to know?

IMO better to replace them like MegaMouse suggests especially if they show any wear. Does it look like your getting oil to the lifters?

To me it's sounding like the pushrods and possibly the lifters got damaged on initial start up? KBIGCOUNTRY pointed out its important to get oil to the lifters before the sparkplugs fire on that first startup. If the pushrods looked OK when you put them in the first time and now they look ground that could be you're problem. Curious as to what anybody else thinks.

If the pushrods are bent or look damaged, you will probably want new lifters. If they look like they've been "grinded" like you say, there is a good chance that material from the pushrods found it's way into the lifters.

Checking push rods can be done as mentioned by rolling them on a flat surface such as a table top or table saw. You can also spin them in a drill motor. If the ends are not in good condition it may lead to your lifters not getting the oil they need.

Ok I ordered lifters and push rods. I'm almost certain its between these two so might as well done it right. Should have replaced them in the first place when I had the engine out. Ya live and ya learn. Next time will be a whole different story. I'll let y'all know when all the parts come in. Thanks so much!

Would also put on new head gaskets and replace the large head bolts since they are TRQ to yeild. The gaskets and bolts are fairly cheap still where ar the lifter price has tripled over the past few years. Do yourself a favor and pick up a small bottle of Lucas break in to dab on the new rods to help them out also but do not block the passage. Soak the new lifters in oil over night and work them some before you install also. Last thing to make sure you have pressure on start up is pull the ASD relay, it is labled on the fuse cover and crank the truck a few times.

Ok I'll do that. And why should I get new head bolts?

If you did the trq to yeild correctly you stretch the bolts which compromise them on being reused. Yes it has been done before but they have also failed, so anything that has heads removed when we do them gets new bolts.
