Now, I am sure that many people will give me hell and call me a liar, but I am going to state what happened anyway :) I wanted to see where my truck was at, since I have not been to the track yet with mods, so I talked my buddy at work into running me with his 2011 Camaro SS. He has axle back exhaust, CAI, and 6 speed manual. When we took off, he spun pretty badly, so I got the holeshot on him. By the time we reached 60mph, he was 5 lengths behind me. I fully expected him the walk me down, once he hooked up, but it did not happen. When I let off at 100 mph, he was still roughly 5 lengths behind me. I wondered if he let off, but he backed me up when we got back. He said that my truck was way faster than he thought that it would be and that he figured he would catch me after he hooked, but said that he had "nothing on that truck". Made my day. Of course, later, we ran again, from 20mph, which is a poor speed for my truck. He hooked and immediately pulled 1 1/2 lengths on me. By the time I hit 100mph, he was right at 2 1/2 lengths ahead of me. Still, not bad for a midly modded, full size and weight truck with a smaller engine (5.7 VS 6.2) I might add. Made me smile. Now, he keeps telling everyone about my fast ass truck hahaha. Even the guys, that used to talk **** in there new Chebby trucks but would never run them, are being very quiet haha. I love my Ram! Flame on! :roflsquared:

EDIT*** Cant wait to get funds in order so I can get a custom tune, headers, Fastman TB, 180 t-stat, manual fan delete, stall converter, and trans go kit.

I believe you that you may have pulled on him from a dig. He could have simply had a bad launch, or it is possible that since you are a regular cab with less weight, and 3.92's compared to a QC or CC truck. That is a pretty potent combo. Were you running 305/50/20's ?

No Sir! I lost those heavy tires and wheels and went back to the chrome clads 20s and SRAs. He did spin on the launch, but I was impressed more by the fact that he could not reel my truck in...not even a little through 100 mph. Just thought it was a cool story to share.

Cool man! But think about this....you guys have similar power ratings, and truly, your RCSB is not that much heavier than his Camaro....those things are fairly chunky. So once rolling, there would not be much chance of him walking on you too badly.

From what I can dig up, the Camaro is about 3,700lbs, and your truck is about 4685lbs (curb weight)

What is it, about a 1,000lb difference? I know that's quite a bit, but still. Of course, the faster speed you get, the more aerodynamics play into it, but I am not that surprised!

Good job!

I was worried more about his 6 speed standard having better spaced gearing and also losing less to the wheels than my 5 speed auto. Well, that and the aero and 1000 lbs! lol Thank you Sir!

I believe that year SS only has 412hp, not much more than the Hemi 395hp.

I think all that was shown was that the Camaro driver needs some more seat time. 0-60 should have been a tick under 5 seconds for the SS and almost 6 seconds for the Ram.

But hey, like The Fast and Furious taught us all...It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, a win is a win."

I believe it..my dads durango has dusted many a sports car and no one believes till i give em the wheels lol

The start is key..the camaro lost it by spinnin his tires but im still surprised the 545rfe kept you ahead of him like that. The driver has a lot to do with it also..he probably doesnt know how to drive that thing properly (as most people who own them dont) lol..

From many years of drag racing the start is key. The loss of time at the line is only exaggerated down the lane. Plus the Rams power band is 3k+ so once your 60ish it keeps pulling really well. And I beleieve the curb weight of the Camaro ss is 3800+ So now we are talking 800lbs

The SS needs the driver mod! A properly driven '11+ stick shift SS is a 108+ MPH trap speed car. Your Ram shouldn't trap over 100 MPH. Once he stopped spinning he should have started reeling you back in if he can drive.

In the end a win is a win! Nice kill!

You sure he doesnt have a v6 with SS badges?

No offense, but he should have smoked you. Either the driver was a ******* idiot, or just trying to be nice. Maybe he took off from 2nd gear. Even spinning, he should be able to beat you. Me personally, Id never brag about beating a SS Camaro that will run a low 13 high 12 second 1/4 mile STOCK, let alone with a couple light mods. He should easily be at high 12's on the street. With your mods, you would be lucky to be high 13s on the street.

Good job, Gunner

Yeah bad driver explains the camero getting hung up in the hole. Now explain how he got the Gun by only 1.5 lengths from a roll. No driver skill there at all.

The 545 in front of 4.10s is not to be taken lightly. Evidently the 3.92 does pretty ok, also.

Why argue physics. Its obvious a RBSC with very light mods can hang with a Camaro SS putting out 30 more HP and weighing in considerably less ;/

Like I said... A v6 with SS badges is most likely the case. Next one would be probably mechanical failure on the Camaro somewhere taking into account that a 5000lb truck dug a Camaro from a 20mph roll...............

Did you guys just see Matts time slip? 12.6 with slicks at the track and nearly every bolt-on mod available. But hey, this Camaro SS lost so it must be legit right?

I have to admit many of the sports cars ive street raced in my dads durango were beaten because the other driver didnt know how to drive it properly..i beat some kid in an older bmw m3 once..i bit instantly with awd and he sat there spinning the tires for like 3 seconds lol..never had a chance

If we went 10 more times he most likely would have smoked me 10 times but i can still say i beat one once

I have a 2015 V6 with the 6 speed manual and it wouldnt stand a chance against my truck, lol. His car is an SS. I see it everyday at work. He had a bad launch which was the key to my win. Sure, a stock SS may run a 4.9 0-60, but with a bad launch, my truck (5.3 0-60), did just fine and the fact that he couldnt run me down on the topend says, like he stated"that is a fast ass truck" lol. I know he would probably get me 9 out of 10 times, but we have only raced once...and I won! hahaha

Also, my original post said that, from a roll, he bit and instantly pulled 1 1/2 lengths on me, but only 1 more length from 40+mph to 100mph. That says something about how these Hemi trucks run. They are a long way from my old 1984 short wide Chevy with a 400 that was considered "quick" as a 15-16 sec truck.

426 stock I believe. He said that, estimating his mods and what they are SUPPOSED to add, he should be around 450HP??? That is from him and not from me.

Yeah, he needs a little more seat time.. That's at least a low low 13 sec car. High 12 if he can launch it.

I don't think he was going to reel you in much after you already put 5 cars on him.
Good kill though.

playing catch up takes serious hp.... not just 40-60.. but like 100 or more. especially when he is trying to close a 5 second gap. from a roll you would be suprised how well u would hang with him, all funn and games, untill u get that " exhibition of speed" ticket lol
