Hi everyone! New here. But not new to Mopar or Rams. I had a 95, short-bed, reg-cab, 5.2, 4x4. I just had to put her down finally with 289k on her. (sniff) I missed it so much I had to get another. My "new" ride is a 97 extended-cab, short-bed, 5.9, 4x4, trailer-package. It's black, with a very rare (from what I have seen) tan leather interior. Love this truck. Mechanically sound, but some usual Dodge rust issues. I'll be doing rockers, door lowers, and rear fender arches in the next few months. Learning on the fly. I will also be trying some things. Like structural-body-adhesive for the rockers. Let ya know how that works.
My other Mopar ride is a 74, big-block, Roadrunner.
I work at a Chrysler factory, so I know alot about the assembly and build process. I hope some of that knowledge can help some of you. I have an electrical back-ground that helps me with DC systems, and some of the OBD stuff.
I have experienced the "Dodge Death Wobble", and SURVIVED! Horrible thing. I'm very familiar with them, and also some of the other "gotcha's" that come along with the 94-01 body. For example, they don't like being driven for long times with the hi-beams on. It melts that plug in the headlight switch connector. You need to install a hi-beam relay up front, and take the current out of the switch.
Glad to be here. I'm sure I'll need much advice on things. I hope to be able to contribute also.
Thank You, Go Red Wings!
Sincerely. Wingnut
