New Guy Here.

[Nine8SST]

Hi everyone, I'm new here so i wanted to introduce myself. I'm a first time ram owner, although I have always been a bit of a Ford guy. I actually went to the lot about a week ago to check out a 2001 Lightning they had. Well, when we got back from the test drive I spotted something at the back of the lot that grabbed my attention. Long story short, I am now the proud owner of a 1998 SS/T. I know it's not a "highly desirable", or "high dollar" truck, but damn I love it.....I couldnt be happier that I spotted it. So, I'll be hanging around the forum here working on learning more about this little gem.



Me, I'm a single dad. My daughter is fourteen and is disabled, dont let that fool you though, she is the happiest kid in the world and I am lucky to be her dad. I'm also a mechanic/machinist by trade, been at it for about 15 years, a little longer on the machinist side. Cant say I love it or hate it, it pays the bills and I work normal hours. So anyway, thanks for havin me here.

Hey guys, thanks for the awesome welcome....I appreciate that. As far as mods go, I'm not sure yet. One thing I definately want to do it at least level the truck out, how much rear drop do you guys recommend to get it level. The back is an even 4 inches higher, so should I just go with a 2 inch shackle and a 2 inch hanger? Advice on this would be great.



I did just place an order with Rock Auto, and Sonic Electronix though. The truck is in dire need of a full tune up, so I ordered all the basics, actually get a better deal through RA than I do through work. Electronics wise i ordered a Viper 2 way paging alarm. A new Pioneer head unit, 2 Kicker 10's, 6.5 inch Fosgate Power components, and 2 Fosgate amps to push it all, plus wire and all the installation stuff.



I havent decided if I want to keep the stock wheels and strip and polish them, or go with some 20's. It's a tough call, these stock ones are kinda growing on me.

I'm with you, I'm driving my first Dodge after owning two Silverados. I went for a test drive in a Ram and that was all I needed to convince myself from getting a diesel.
