Hey all. Just signed up to the forums. I have a an 01 ram sport, had it about three years now. I do as much work on my truck myself. Haven't had to ever take it in and hopefully never will.

So I guess I will now ask my first questions. I order most my parts online, I'm wondering what is the main difference between the sport models and a standard model?for instance, I need a new front grille and I see some places that say it won't fit the sport model... How do I find out if I have an off road package? Is that what is the sport model?

Sport is body color bumpers and grille along with special headlights. Sport front bumpers are just a plastic cover over a special frame. Other than aesthetics, nothing is changed.
OFF ROADS are a different animal entirely, trussed D44 front axle, 4.10 gears front and rear, rear LSD, HD Service package, gas tank skid plate and special badging.

Yep the 99-01 sport are the hardest lady you'll have to shop for if you're looking for new bumpers. The grill has more of a curve and sticks out a little bit further also. Welcome to RF!

ive had the truck 3 yrs. just put the rims and tires on, picked up the rims for $120 on craigslist and plasti dip them. did the radiator, hoses, t-stat couple months ago. new sway and end links. going to order new drag link, tie rod, trac bar. upper and lower ball joints here in the next week or so, then shocks. been looking for a new grille online, hard to find though, thought i would try my hand at some fiberglass work on it first, i still have the piece missin from the grill. love this truck, its the one truck that i will always keep, sure ill buy a new one but this one will always be mine! oh yeah and i need to get the back window fix, not sure i wanna keep the slider or go with the solid piece, ive never used the slider, but with my luck if i get a solid ill be like damn wish i had that slider

any body have suggestions on where to buy parts? i usually buy off ebay or locally.

Meh, Laramie is an SLT.
In 02 for the 2500/3500's last year they actually DROPPED the Laramie name plate and just stuck with SLT, some late 01s had that as well.
There is no thing special about a Laramie SLT, merely a name.

WS-> ST-> SLT/SPORT-> OFF ROAD/OFF ROAD SPORT

ultimately, anything higher than an SLT is an option package, is Sport, OFF ROAD

not on your model. Your grill has more of a curve to the whole grill, plus its rounded at the bottom. you need to look for the 99-01 sport model grill.

Cool thanks dude. I was going to repair it with fiberglass and as I was taking it off, 90% of the clips broke off.
