New Outdoorsman Owner -Pics added
Greetings. I just picked up a new Ram 1500 CC 4x4 Outdoorsman in Sagebrush this past weekend. We traded our ’10 MKZ AWD for it. It was a great car, but I’m always in need of a truck. We drove 200 mi to make the trade. We couldn’t find any 2012 Rams in Sagebrush in our area. There was a Big Horn 200 mi. North of us, but I liked the Outdoorsman better. The small town (Claremore, OK) dealer was excellent. We were out of there in less than an hour (went through internet sales). This Ram has the Technology Group, Mossy Oak Package, rear backup camera, and trailer brake control. This is our first Ram, but we’ve had a ’95 Dakota Sport 318 2wd SB (also with 3:92 gears – fun truck back in the day), ’97 F-150 Flareside 2wd, and ’08 Sport Trac V8 2wd. I’ve had the Hemi in an ’09 Aspen, so I’m familiar with the drivetrain. I thought of an F150 Ecoboost, but I didn’t even drive one. I like the looks of Ram 10x better. Our other ride (wifey’s daily diver) is a ’11 Grand Cherokee Laredo X with Pentastar. Next month, it will be 1 year old, and we’ve had 0 issues (knock on wood for the “head” issue).
To start off, I ordered up some Go Rhino 5” Black Oval Nerf Bars from Autoanything. We are a height-challenged family, and it’s a chore for all of us to get in the Ram. I hope they arrive soon. I also ordered a rubber bed mat. A tonneau cover has to be ordered next. I’ll probably get a Truxedo Lo Pro QT, because I had one on my Sport Trac (and loved it). I’m waiting on a color sample from Truxedo, because I think the tan (Buckskin) color will go good with Sagebrush and Mossy Oak. What do you think? I think it would make it more unique. However, a black tonneau would also look good with the black nerf bars, and black door handles, etc. I plan to tint the front windows 20% (soon). Future mods include air intake (S&B?), swap muffler, possibly spray-in liner, swapping speakers (Chrysler Alpine is pathetic compared to my previous THXII system – seriously, it’s a night and day difference).
Enough rambling….I’ll continue reading now.
Here's a couple of pics I snapped the day we brought it home. Bed mat came today. Tint tomorrow.
