Hi fellow Ramheads. As a former Auto Parts & Service professional, I feel like I'm getting "hosed" by a Ram/Jeep Dealer for charging me $6000+ dollars for a new PCM on my 2014 Ram 2500 Diesel with 272640 mi! My message center said "DEF system (issue), will go into limp mode in 125 miles, see dealer immediately". We are Full Time RV'ers and this is Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, so I made a few calls to independent shops but got voicemails. So I figured my only option was to call and visit the local Ram dealer where we were traveling at the moment, I won't say where, but a major city. We arrived Friday early am and they took our truck in quickly. Several hours later the service writer said I needed a new PCM and DEF injector ( THAT was replaced only 3 years ago..) and my bill with parts & labor would be $10,450!!!! WTF!! I talked to the tech who was an older, experienced looking and sounding dude, and he explained his methodology and I reluctantly agreed with his reasoning. But, TEN THOUSAND dollars??!! FM!! Anyone out there think they are charging me full boat list with icing on top?..TIA!..

I'd be trading and getting a 2nd opinion. With 272k miles, that 10k will be a different function in a trade.

I'd say no, drive out of the dealer, go get a duramax or a Ford and trade with the light on.

10k, no way

Check with flagship 1 for availability of PCM. They are good to deal with.

That's absurd. about 2 years ago my 2006 Cummins apparently needed a PCM. Erratic shifting, sometimes it would take off in 3rd, sometimes it would take off in 1st, skip 2nd, then slam into 3rd... the solenoid and gov pressure sensor did not fix. random intermitten misfires on injectors etc

I think I paid Firepunk $4k for a new PCM, install, sending injectors out to be cleaned and tested, and rebuilt 2 injectors that were not flowing the same as the others. I believe the price on the PCM alone was around $1k
