I went car shopping today - plan was to replace my 2015 Tacoma with a Jeep Gladiator Sport S. My insurance company offers a free car buying service, so I went to the dealership that had the best negotiated prices. I thought I'd get a $45k Gladiator for like $39k. Then I test drove a 1500 Rebel, that would have been about $44k for a $54k truck. Imagine my surprise when I was scrolling through the negotiated pricing info to realize that I could get a $60k power wagon for $47k. Since it comes with all of the off road goods of a Rubicon, plus a winch, at lower cost, it was an easy decision. Hadn't really done any research on Power Wagons, but it's really nicely equipped. Rides great. Love the power, size, options. VDDN2376.JPG

Congratulations from a 3-day old PW owner here. Truck may have ruined me on any other vehicle for good.

I agree, this thing is awesome. Years ago, I had a 2004 Dodge 3500 with the cummins 600. It was a great truck, good for towing, but had nothing like the features on this thing. Of course, it was cheaper, but I really feel like I did pretty good on the pricing for this truck.

Thanks for the welcome! Any tips on where I can find the operating instructions for the winch? I've used winches before, but it's been a few years and I don't have any documentation in my owners manual.

Youtube is your friend. There’s a release lever tucked back in there for free spool. Then just plug the winch remote in front. Unless they’ve changed something for the 19s. On my manual. Well the online version anyways.....the instructions start on page 386.

Tension the rope before you put a load on it for the first time or you will bind the rope into itself and you will not be able to free spool it by hand.

The 2019 has synthetic line instead of steel cable. I had a synthetic setup on my 2013 jeep wrangler. Initially, I had to properly reload the line on the drum by spooling it out, hooking it to a large object, and then pull the jeep in while lining up the line on the drum. I'm assuming the PW needs a similar setup, since the line was likely just loosely wound on the drum by Warn. But I might be wrong - I can't remember if I had to personally install the synthetic line on the old jeep, since that was 7 years ago.

Yes same idea. Either pull yourself up hill or set the e brake to create some drag, and pull yourself back in. Leaving one complete wrap around the whole drum to start from. (9-11 revolutions)

That is a great color!!!! I wanted the silver, till I found the Mohave Sand color, then I couldn't make up my mind.
I've only had mine for a few weeks, but I love it!

Nice. Are the dealerships releasing the trucks without setting the winch up?
Mine has not been set up.....gotta find some time to do this!
I have a 2018 with steel cable. Do I need to unwind it and spool it back in?

Yes. I mine did not have a rope installed, till I said I would not take delivery till the UV jacket/rope sleeve, remote, rope, and hook were installed.

there is a 17 for sale in my town that the cable has not even been pulled through the rollers yet. It is still wrapped and tied around the winch. Never prepared.

yes you do. But under a load. I did not do it on my first winch I had on my Jeep back in 02, and used it at 30 feet the first time and when I went to use it the 2nd time I could not pull it out past 30 feet by hand as it was not stretched and it got pinched.
The ones that never had this happen to them before, most likely used their winch and it’s full length on the first use.
