Well, as a former BMW guy let me tell you that once they go turbo, you will miss the V8. For generations BMW was famous for their amazing 6-cyl engines. There was just something majestic about them. You really had to drive one to appreciate it. Then a few years ago they switched over to a twin turbo 4-cyl. It wasn't the same driving experience. Yes, they were very good engines with tons of power and statistically performed better than the old 6, but to a lot of the BMW faithful it was like being cheated on. They just didn't drive the same. It's hard to describe, but they just didn't drive like a BMW should.The replacement engine for the Hemi is pretty slick. It's a inline 6 with two turbochargers. The engine was designed by BMW. do not know if it will be imported or licensed for USA manufacturing. Two versions, 400 & 500 hp.. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Was looking forward to getting a new Ram with this engine. But designed by BMW? Wonder if it will suck up oil like so many of their engines do. I'm sure the turbo V6 will be pretty awesome....but for Hemi V8 purists you will not like it.
