Alright, my tires are getting pretty worn and its time for new ones. I'm looking at a hybrid AT/MT like a duratrac or a Cooper ST MAXX. I'm in college, so cheaper is always better, but a tire like the Kanati Trail hog which is relatively cheap, has no reviews to back it. So, whats YOUR PERSONAL opinion on any of these tires, or a tire you like that is a good all arounder? Cheers :favorites13:

By the way, I have since sold my second gen :( but the size I'm looking for would be a 265/75/r16. Thanks!

Like you say, I couldn't find but a couple reviews on the kanati tires, but I just put the mud hogs on my truck on Thursday. I have a thread with pics in this same exterior area. For the price they don't need to last near as long to be a good value.

Not hybrid but Dakota M/T is an aggressive tire with a cheaper price tag.

I am running the Cooper S/T MAXX. Came with the truck. Last a long time, good tire. I suspect they're in no way a good tire for the winter. Other than that, they're good.

On the other hand, Iv'e run a couple set's of Duratrac's. I love them. Last well, look good, ride well, tough, excellent in mud, snow, gravel, rain, dry roads.

My Coopers have plenty of tread left but I am looking for wheel's for my Duratracs so I can have them on before winter.
They just do not look like something I want to run in the snow and ice.

I know nothing about MT tires. But I want to add a little insight.

Bigger tires = more rolling resistance = more gas= More money out out of your pocket.

Have you considered a straight AT tire? I like the Hankook Dynapro AT-M

They are fairly cheap (cost wise, but a good tire) and it works for where I am (Southern Ontario snow belt/ Rust belt).

And the Duratracs are "winter" rated. Dig like a Swamper in the mud and love the snow.
Can you tell I like them? Lol

Alright, I decided to go with Kumho AT51 for a few reasons. Number one, I want great snow handling, and these are rated with the mountain snowflake. Two, These aren't overly aggressive so my MPG won't take a huge hit but theyr're still aggressive enough to get me out of a bad situation. I know they probably can't handle a lot of mud, but reviews I read said with a little wheel speed, they'll go through anything but a mud bog. Three, THEY WERE ONLY $490ISH! After taxes, installation, and a $120 rebate, but that is a great deal! As a college kid, I'm excited to not be paying around $800 for a set of truck tires that can handle whatever I throw at it.

(I hope this picture works)
