Ok so my truck is a 2014 ram 2500 6.4 with the most basic radio. I do not have steering not wheel control. I was quoted 309 for install and harness. Is this something I can tackle myself? Is it really that complicated? And what harness and parts would I need to install a double din kenwood radio with Bluetooth.

You might want to look and see whats behind the radio. If there is only a Single Din space behind the radio you may have to do some cutting which i wouldnt do myself. Other than that its simply just removing the power from the battery and splicing wires for the new plug.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0CoeIQ4Zbs This is the best video i could find on it. Sorry its a long one

Do a search lot of good threads on here. Not hard to do except for the cutting part in the post above if required. If your unsure let a pro do it, it will keep you sane!!

Yeah from the vid as long as everything is color coded it doesn't seem to bad. I would be going double din and would have to cut. Such flimsy metal it can be to bad. I have heat gun, shrink wrap and all the essentials. Here's a picture of everything I think I would need. I'm installing that same radio just little more updated version. Anything other then this list I need? I have xm but don't use it so don't see the point on spending extra on the antenna for it.

That usb adapter isn't going to work. I tried 3 different ones. You need a special board to replace the hub in the center console to make that work. Maestro makes it.

Cutting that metal is probably the easiest part of the whole thing. Just watch out for sharp edges after.

So what's the best way to wire the wires? I've seen were people tape them or soder them. I was thinking of heat shrinking them. Opinions?

any connection can be good as long as its done right. solder with tape/shrink, butt connectors.

you can get a bad joint with either if not done correctly.

now 309 without the radio that seems excessive for a radio install. if they are including parts that like $150 to install a simple radio WOW

I agree with Baum, parts and labor on a non touchscreen radio should rub about $200. The Kenwood double-dins run for about $150 retail so I would imagine that price is with the radio. If so, it is a fair price.
