Looking at purchasing 09 ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 SLT. Clean, 75k for $12000. 4.7 motor. 5 speed transmission. Owned one 2002 dakota for a short time otherwise only have owned GM. Does this seem like a good deal? I know the past Dodges were famous for tranny problems how about the 2009? Also how about the 4.7 motor? Can the 09-12 ram compare to gm in terms of reliability 200k plus motor? Easy to work on? Any other problems suspension etc? Any help would be great.

Tranny issues are pretty much history.
They used to get hot but with coolers issues pretty much disappeared

Personally I would look for a Hemi and the 8 speed. 2009 was a first Gen and those make me nervous but I’m weird like that

Best of luck on whatever you choose !

Our 2004 grand cherokee, bought new, went 234000 thousand miles when we traded it in 2016. Mechanic at the dealer bought it go his daughter to commute back and fourth to college. No engine issues at all.
