I'm considering a 2013 Ram 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 with 87000 km Diesel engine. I'm in the market because I'll be towing a travel trailer weighing 9000lbs. After my test drive I noticed the front end was a bit loose and not as smooth as I thought it would be. Without anything to compare to, the Dealer suggested I compare to a similar 2016 model. The 2016 was much better. When I pointed this out to the dealer they did say that the 2013 would go through a series of inspections before being sold and any issues would be fixed. I'm a bit leary that the issue (if there is any) would be something they would address.
Any suggestions on what I should look for? Maybe a front end alignment will improve the handling? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Seems like the dealer should/would repair and issue the truck or any vehicle they sell off their lot before they out it out on the lot to sell. IMO, if that is the way the dealer sells his junk he can sell it to someone else.

IIRC, the 13s still had the old style steering linkage - - - steering damper mounts to the tie rods with a bracket & u-bolts. I don't remember when the change over happened, but the newer ones have a much larger steering linkage & different front control arms. The newer trucks with the updated front suspension feel almost like a rack & pinion setup with how tight the steering is and in responsiveness. Almost night & day difference. With that said, usually the steering damper is first to fail & can give off the loose steering feel or even "steering shimmy".

I would have the dealer "fix" whatever they say needs fixing and then test drive it, before you put any cash down.

The steering setup changed on 2014+ RAM 2500/3500's. Comparing a 2013 to a 2016 is not apples to apples.

Personally, I would be looking for a 2014+ model.

Help!

Sorry to barge in but can't see how to post a new desperate thread?

Hi
I'm stuck in England with my Dually and its decided not to charge the battery after some front end work on the suspnsion and steering.I've replaced the alternator and the 120amp fuse. I've checked the fusible link on the board under the hood and I've checked and cleaned both wires at the PCM!!, on inspection of the wiring I've discovered there's no 12v feed to the alternator to excite it?
If I provide a feed to it, it charges straight up but the ABS/Brake light stays on on the dash? If I provide a feed across the Auto shut off relay it has no effect? But I have live at one o f the ASD posts??.
I have no idea what to do after eight days of messing with it. AND the Brit electricians have no idea either!!
Please help in any way!!!!!!
