Don't you run the risk of messing up your torque convertor by taking out the check valve?

Nope. Only thing that'll happen if the TC ends up drained is the truck won't move.

No cooler line check ball and no problems here.
Plus i have a TransGo JR kit so it pumps in park anyway. :naughty:

Once the new tranny is in, I have a 2yr warranty. Should I take it easy on the tranny like breaking in a new engine?

I would save your money. $2700 is a lot of money and it sounds like your transmission Isn't giving you any problems.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. I mean unless you really want to spend your money that bad why don't you wait until you actually need to rebuild it? For all you know the transmission that's in your truck with 86k miles could last another 50k for all you know. Metal shavings are pretty common and they could be trying to convince you to get a transmission rebuild much sooner then you really need it.

If it was me I'd save my money and wait until I need it
