new winter tire problem

hey guys, i just bought new winter tires for my ram. my stock tires are 275/60/r20 and the new winters are 275/65/r17. will this damage anything or just throw my speedo off a bit? thanks

33" vs 31"..speedometer will be off by a bit. I doubt it'll damage anything. A friend puts on aftermarket 20s in the summer on his G35 that came with 17s without recalibrating, no issues since 2006.

awesome thank you very much. i was just worried about tranny or diff, seeing how it will be revving a bit higher now. and my speedo with be showing faster then i am actually going? is that correct?

thats correct, although i'm pretty sure the dealer/tire shop can program the new tire size for you as well, if you dont have a tuner.

i do not ,so i am going to call them tomorrow cause when i ordered them i was told they would be a perfect match. so ill see what they say. thank you

If they won't swap out the size just buy an aftermarket tuner. A dealer will charge you $100 or so every time you change the tires size, so if your doing it spring and fall that is $200 per year. You can get a tuner for $400 to $700, so you can get the advantages of a tuner and save money.

Last option is to just roll with it and keep in mind your speedo would be off ~5% (set the cruise to 68mph on your speedo to maintain 65)
Youd have been better off with a 265/70/17 which is the stock size for 17" wheels
Closer to your stock 20 would be 285/70/17
