Hello all, currently looking into getting a 3rd generation Dodge ram and I want the Hemi! I am trying to do some research about the dodge Hemi motor to see what mods and what kind of fuel economy it will get. Looking for a four door 4x4 truck. I am typically a chevy guy but wanting to make a change. What i dont understand is the intake system. Some guys post pics of Hemi's where the throttle body is on top of the intake, like the old style carb or fuel injection. and some guys have the throttle body on the front of the intake like the LS series Chevy motors. Whats the difference, and why is there a difference. Im a firm believer of the intake with the throttle body on the front of the intake. Thanks for the help!

3G 2002-2008 has the TB at the rear of the manifold.
4G - From pics it looks like it is further up front facing upwards.

Some folks do a manifold conversion to the 6.1 which puts the TB to the front of the bay,

Mine for example - 2004
Where the factory 5.7 TB is - The Hemi "Hat" is removed.

Thanks for the info. This makes more since. I will research the 6.1 manifold conversion, as this is a much cleaner look.

I am from Denton Tx.

I am with you if you want to dress up the bay up but without heavy mods you prob' wont get much power gains. There is also a port mismatch on the 5.7 heads so you gotta port match or run port adapters/gaskets from CTP or Modern Muscle Performance.

Also $$$

Plus the longer runners in the truck intake help make more low end torque, were as the 6.1 intake will make more high end horsepower becuase of the storter runners. Since am wannting the Hemi becuase of pulling the boat, its probly better I stay with the stock intake. thanks for all the help.
