Unbelievable - I'd been having some issues with my chainsaws running on new spark plugs, and found that Bosch is no longer made in Germany - they outsourced to China. Logger blogs noted starting and running issues.

But wait, it gets worse - far worse. I went to substitute NGK spark plugs and found they are all now made in Brazil! Same deal, logger blog complaints.

They recommended Denso as still being made in Japan, so I ordered those. Nope - made in China.

JFC, already!!! I'll try Champion again, I don't know if they are bankrupt but I ordered some plugs today, last time I ordered they were made in Mexico and seemed ok.

This isn't a "race to the bottom", btw - it is a race to the top for corporate executives. They might cut the part price a little, but not as much as the the part cost was reduced, so they get richer. It's a race to the TOP! Trickle-up.

Followup to the above rant -

Since they're not budget breaker items, I ordered some equivalent chainsaw spark plugs from all 3 manufacturers to confirm where they are actually made now. Following are the results marked on the plugs and/or package:

Bosch - China
NGK - Brazil (Brasil)
Champion - Mexico

Of the 3, I've had reliable firing with the Champion ECO spark plugs in my other small motors, so I think I'll try them in the chainsaws. These have fine wire electrode that concentrates spark energy for better starting and running in small engines, as they don't have closed loop computer control of AFR, and low compression ratios. And 2 cycle oil in-cylinder.

When I was a Stihl dealer, Bosch plugs were pretty much a "must", with Denso being acceptable.

Bosch was made in Germany exclusively. Denso and NGK were made in Japan, exclusively.

This is my point. Even the former stalwarts of local quality have thrown in the towel in the race to the top for executives.

Its all about the stock holder my friend, not the executives. As long as there is a never ending increase in stock price, stock holders are happy. The real problem is it isnt sustainable. Quality usually suffers and then its a downhill slide that most don't recover from unless the government bails them out

Ask yourself how the executives get paid. Then you'll see your answer is incorrect.

Bonuses far exceed salary.

Their bonuses have long been tied to stock price appreciation. For decades. Read.

Like I said, total compensation packages very often include a good majority portion of it in stock for many corporate executives. Bonuses and salary dont come close to the amount of stock that many executives are given.

Your original post spoke about executives getting "richer." I would say the first thing most people dont think of if you made that statement is someone owning a ton of stock as being "rich" since you cant see it (ex. posessions or real estate) or do anything with it unless you sell.

When peasants whine about executives large salary or bonuses most people would say that you would be talking about monetary amounts that can be used to purchase items/real estate.
Last time I checked you cant purchase items/real estate with stock. For decades. Research.

Show us how stock price doesnt matter to all the stock they are awarded.

Cmon, man.
