No sound from radio leads to dead battery

Last Saturday my wife and I were driving home and all of a sudden the stereo just went quiet. We were listening to Sirius, but AM, FM, Bluetooth and media input are all dead quiet also. No sound at all, not even white noise. Made an appointment to get it looked at day after Christmas at the dealer. Truck is a 2018, about 13k on it.

So, my wife says that since I have a further drive to work, she’ll take the truck. She drives to work Monday and says she noticed the stereo screen stays in even when the truck is turned off and the door open, but otherwise no problems. Tuesday no problem. Wednesday she said the truck needed gas, so I was going to take the truck. Go to start it and the battery is dead.

Had it towed to the dealer Wednesday afternoon. They canceled my appointment and said they would get it in. Was told they were gonna take a look at it Thursday. No updates. Today, went to get my Charger an oil change there, no update on truck. Frustrated they haven’t even looked at it yet, but that’s another story.

Anyone else had this stereo issue?

I’ll post what the dealer says when/if they ever look at it. I had the truck towed there last Wednesday since it died, had an appointment for yesterday and they still have yet to look at it. See what today brings?

I would maybe contact Ram corporate or @RamCares to see if they can light a fire under the dealer’s ass. This seems way too long for them to even diagnose it.

Already talked to Ram corporate. I called them a few days ago. Then I posted something on Facebook and they asked me to PM them. I was assigned a case number and case manager.

Have not heard from dealer so far today. Will be calling a little later if I don’t hear from dealer soon.

Heard from Chrysler care. They spoke with the dealer, who stated they have not worked on it yet, but I am the next in line. Which would be awesome, had they not told me that LAST THURSDAY.

Well. Truck still isn’t fixed, but they gave me a loaner. 2018 crew cab hemi.

No. Not at all.

So even though FCA customer care has gotten involved there has been no progress. I did finally get a loaner, but the only word on my truck has been “we will get it in as soon as possible”. This has changed because they used to tell me they would work on it tomorrow every day I called in. So no clue when I will get my truck back.

Just wondering, is the servicing dealer the selling dealer of the truck? Dealerships tend to put warranty work for vehicles bought elsewhere third on the priority list behind paid customer work and warranty work for vehicles bought through them.

Unfortunately no. The dealer I bought it from is further away and I could only get it towed to the dealer it is at or another one.

Heard from dealer yesterday morning. They got the battery charged and couldn’t find a draw. When I asked if the stereo was playing he said he didn’t know. I was talking to the service manager. That was around 10:00 yesterday. Didn’t hear back as of yet.

Got truck back. They charged the battery and found nothing wrong. Guess we will see if it happens again.
