So I am from michigan (no state inspection) and I'd like to get a set of headers for my 03 ram hemi. Im all about having it loud so I dont care much about muffler set up or anything. What is a good header set up for me? Does not need to include cats and does not necessarily need to line up with original exhaust.

On that note. I know its possible to trick the computers O2 sensors so I dont have to run cats, but what is the best way you all have found to do this?

The trucks got 160k miles on it so not looking to spend a ton.

Thanks in advance!

Pacesetter longtubes are hands down your best option. The painted are $299 shipped, and the ceramic coated are only $429 shipped. Match this up with their 3" y-pipe, and you are set. If you want loud, and you aren't worried about the inspection, then I would just run without the cat.

that looks right up my alley! Thanks, My only question is to go for painted or ceramic, is it worth the extra cash? or is keeping the painted rust free a matter of keeping it clean?

^^^^ This^^^^^

One thing to add though, no cats = loss of lowend when you dont have the mods to support it. If you have the mods, go for it, if not either through the cats back in or get a set of highflows to cut the difference.

The paint will burn off very fast.

This is a set of 5 year old Pacesetter painted headers on a "northern" truck.

And yes, that is a hole almost the size of a dime.

If I lived up north I would no doubt get the coated ones. But living in FL is still such a toss up.

Coated it is! I actually live in VA now, (just moved here) but do spend a lot of time up north for holidays. As for loss of low end, I plan on dropping in a cam shortly after the header install.

Get the coated for sure. They hold up better and keep the engine bay cooler. I am running no cats but am running a cam/ head setup that compensates for the lowend change.

I'm not running any cats with my Hedman LT's and I didn't notice any low end loss. If I hadn't got a killer deal on mine I would have gotten the coated headers as well.

What size are the headman primary's? They might be keeping enough backpressure in it still to keep the low end with no cats

Hedmans actually have 1 5/8" primaries compared to Pacesetters 1 3/4". I started off with Hedmans on my 03, but they rusted away pretty quickly. When I switched to the Pacesetters, I didn't feel any loss down low, but my peak HP numbers went up about 8hp. I also had an Edge Tq Converter at the time though, and its hard to feel any loss of tq with the right converter in place.
