No Towing Hooks?

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX4 (5.7L V8 Quad Cab). I have seen just about every other model Ram have 2 loops mounted to frame on front end for what I assume is towing purposes.

I checked my frame and front end, I can't tell if this model never came with them or previous owner might have removed them - as unlikely as that sounds.

Is this normal?

Is your truck a 4WD?, if not that may be the reason. My 06 has them but it's a 3/4 ton and 4WD. My tow hooks are in the area just above the chrome bumper on my truck. On your truck it looks like that entire area is filled with some kind of plastic filler from the factory. Just from looking at it I'd say it came from the factory without the tow hooks.

Yes, it is 4WD. From what I understand the TRX4 trim is a beefed up towing/performance upgrade.

who or what did you plan on towing or rather, pulling with the hooks?

me, personally, i'd never tow/pull anyone for insurance purposes, especially a stranger. However, i've yanked a few bushes out with them.

Hooks are more for recovering your own vehicle anyway. Mine did not come with them but I purchased them and I'm about to put them in. They look cool.

You saw an image of Chrome Tow Hooks
The Painted ones are usually much cheaper

You wouldn't have that plastic piece in the bumper if your truck had come with them (I'm sure the build sheet would verify this). PLENTY of other 3rd gen Rams didn't come with them, rwd & 4wd alike. The only ones in the wild that I ever seen that weren't owner added were 2500's.

I had mistakenly assumed that all models of RAMs from whatever year onward had them regardless. I haven't seen one without them, personally. I thought I was some special exception due to a freak accident. Now knowing that this isn't so, helps me out. I don't plan on pulling anyone out of anything or getting my own self unstuck in this manner. But, it's nice to know I can buy and install them myself if I wanted to, so thank you for the links.
